Mine is always talking to the waiter or waitress first.

Years ago in Playa del carmen, a fellow Louisianan at another table knew automatically where we were from because we addressed the waitress first whenever she approached our table.

I remember fishing on a pier in Tennessee and somebody in a boat hollered that I must be a coonsss because my toes were gripping the pier edge like fingers

If they are from the Lafayette area they will let you know within the first 2 minutes of speaking to them

If they are from the Houma/Thibodaux area - you’re not going to understand what they say

Can't be the way they talk because South La has about 20 different accents.

I'll go with referring to anyone North of Ellick as a Yankee

especially if you are from BR

They will add that BR is a shithole and the University of Louisiana is the flagship of its system and would beat LSU at football if they were given the same budget

I was in NOLA for a conference last week and the Lafayette people always contributed when there was q&a - and they always started off with ‘I’m from Lafayette/Broussard/New Iberia’, etc

Just say what you gotta say!!

Old neighbor had just moved into Katy. Walking up to the bus stop with the kids, he extended his hand, and said, "Hi, I'm X, I'm from ..." I said, "Chalmette, I know."

It took five words.
