They look yellow and have that annoying accent. Since Ive been gone for about 25 years, I can spot someone from S. La . Right away.

people from the Florida parishes can be a little tougher to spot

I'll put the Mamou, Ville Platte , Eunice, Basile, etc accent with any of them. And all north of Welsh.

The orange and red are the highest percentage French Speakers in the Parish. See Evangeline Parish.

We were on the beach in Anguilla 2 years ago and heard the family next to us talking. Knew immediately they were from Lafayette.

They use the word “of” instead of “have”.

Ex. Would of. Should of. Could of.

This ranks up there in my book as one of the most unintelligent things people say/write down here.

As in start the conversation with the waiter before he or she has the chance to start talking first.

Old neighbor had just moved into Katy. Walking up to the bus stop with the kids, he extended his hand, and said, "Hi, I'm X, I'm from ..." I said, "Chalmette, I know."

It took five words.

You say this but I have an ongoing joke with a guy at the bar that he needs closed captioning everytime he speaks. I understand him just fine but I can see an outsiders perspective.

Should’ve, could’ve, would’ve —not sure how these contractions would be pronounced in away that doesn’t sound like “of”

I like being far away from home and seeing someone wearing LSU gear.
