Going to find out the sex of our baby only to learn he had passed. Legs were crossed, so we couldn't find out the sex.
Wife delivering, and then me cutting the cord and finding out it was a little boy and holding his lifeless body in my hands will never be outdone.
Followed by burying him beside my brother.
Going through that experience, I can't understand how anyone could have an abortion.
I never want to experience anything like it again.
BTW, thanks for making me cry, Masterag

Combat PTSD and multiple friends being permanently disabled, losing limbs or dying in front of me and several committing suicide after we came home. But yea, sorry about your racial insecurity struggles or whatever.

Knowing I can't talk to friends about it for fear of being judged. Knowing that dating life is tough and having GF's tell me "you're fricking crazy and I'm leaving." Knowing that any medication I currently take could suddenly stop working leaving me suicidal, or that any new medication might fricking kill me or make me insane (or at the very best make me diabetic or frick with my thyroid). Knowing that I can become very angry for no reason and have lost jobs because of it.
One of my best friends was diagnosed bipolar about 3-4 years ago, and he tells me I am his only friend who will talk to him about his issues or who still treats him like a normal person. He says many of our friends will just change the subject because it makes them uncomfortable. He's been on so many different combos of medication over the last few years, even electric shock therapy. I never understood much about mental illness until this with him. He's extremely fortunate that he works for his family business otherwise he would have lost jobs too. It's been truly eye opening to watch which of our friends have cut ties with him. I feel for you, and I hope you can find some god friends to help you

We all need to cry sometimes, my friend.
Sorry you had to go through that, brother. Thank you for sharing

Watching my wife's heartbreak has been the worst part of all of this. I've never seen somebody sit and sob all day. It's like ripping my heart out of my chest. I love my wife more than anything in this world.

Solid post. I felt like the guy you replied to was posting my exact train of thought, except I’m 5 years older than he is

Like I said earlier, I’m not playing the my struggle is worse game with you or anyone. I simply listed my toughest emotional struggle and invited you to do the same. I thank you for your service and sacrifice and wish you the best and hope you find peace.

That dude was way out of line with that shite
Can’t stand it when military dudes put THEMSELVES on a pedestal. YOU chose that way of life, not me
^^^
Don’t take that as disrespect to the military. I have the highest regard for those individuals, it’s just a certain few that irritate me

This is some real shite. Mine is watching the mother of my children I'm divorcing passing this behavior to my 9 year old daughter. She deals in only black and white - no gray area to her. If my daughter loves me then she interprets that as our daughter hating her. Any affection towards me is interpreted as a rejection of her. She takes no responsibility for the marriage falling apart and paints me as the bad father who abandoned his children. And my little girl is having severe anxiety and regression because she perceives that if she's with me then nobody is taking care of her helpless mother. It's abusive and sadistic that she feels validated to see her daughter in such pain. Therapy has begun for my daughter and for me to learn how to deal with a raging borderline.
Holy crap man. I feel as if I could have written this entire post myself. I don't ever talk about my daughters mother to or about her. But I'm always on her mouth and mind and my daughter confides this all the time to my new lady.
I fell your pain man.

Overall I have been very fortunate, but infertility has really put a strain on my marriage and my life in general.

You know what man - I was being an a-hole and looking to pick a fight and you could not have responded better. I apologize. What I said was uncalled for and I was being a bitch.

In all of my years here, don’t think I’ve seen many people do that... kudos to you

A good buddy of mines baby girl died last year and he still doesn’t know the cause. I really can’t imagine anything tougher.
It's like being at the mercy of something or someone you can't control. Last week I spent a day unable to stop crying, it was embarrassing, uncontrollable and humiliating. Yesterday I wanted to punch a hole through the windshield of my car for no reason at all. I won't lie, I spent the first month after he died basically in a bottle. I clawed myself out of that and now I distract myself with work and reading. Both my wife and me go through waves of emotions at different times that could affect our marriage at anytime. I'm thankful that we have found ways to support each other so far. She's pulled me out of our son's empty bed and I've picked her up off the floor of his room more than once.
I don't want to sound like the king of sorrow and we are not looking for sympathy and in no way do I want to diminish what any individual in this discussion is dealing with. It somehow helps me to be open and share what we are going through. I encourage everyone in this thread to do the same.
Brian has created a place for us to laugh, cry and often times be assholes to each other. Speaking from experience the site is full of posters who will go out of their way to help people out.

You have nothing to be embarrassed about. From the stuff I've seen you posting about your little boy, you've got to be one of the strongest people on this website.

Thank you.
No hard feelings from me, I have lots of respect for you combat vets, many of whom are friends and family. Y’all go through some very tough shite.

That’s why I started this thread. Many of us feel too embarrassed or think we’re too hard or our personal issues are no match for someone else so we shouldn’t complain, but I think getting it out makes you stronger because you’re dealing with it. Im glad you’ve got a good support system.

I have a friend like that. Great guy. Used to get shite from black people for being proper.
Black friends would call him "n**** nerd".
Though the guy that made up that name is on his third stint in prison and the "nerd " is a lawyer.

The last few years of my life have been filled with so much joy, but also so much sadness.
I cut my dad off a few years because he was an alcoholic and I was his last bridge to burn. He finally got his shite together, stayed sober and we had started to make amends. We were going to spend Thanksgiving with him and he went into the hospital on our way to see him. My husband and I went to see him in the hospital, stayed for the doctors rounds. As far as we all knew he was getting released the next day. He was tired so we left the hospital and he said he couldn't wait to meet/hug his grandson. He lived with us for a good portion of my fertility treatments so knew what a blessing this child was. We all just thought he'd be out tomorrow and come spend Thanksgiving with us all. He passed later that day. fricking cancer, he was diagnosed about a six weeks earlier.
Then in the beginning of February I get the call my mom has two months to live. Breast cancer that eventually spread everywhere. Went back and forth to stay with her, and spent her last days with her in hospice. Worst thing I have been through in my life. She passed 3 months ago today.
I lost them both to cancer in 3 months, and they were 55 and 59. It's been a huge emotional struggle. I went through very hard times with both of them, but would give anything to have them back. Makes me regret the times we spent not speaking.
With my sister passing in 2014, it just devastates me my son won't grow up with my family. Because they aren't here anymore.
Luckily, I have great in-laws who love him dearly.
