Did they actually trace your lineage back to a Congolese slave? Or are you just assuming you're descended from a slave because you got 0.1% or 0.2% sub-Saharan ancestry? Even if you really are 0.1% black this doesn't mean you're descended from a slave. If you're Spanish or Italian it might be sub-Saharan admixture you got from the Carthagians or Moors. (Yes there's more to back up Iberians and Italians having miniscule sub-Saharan African ancestry than We Wuz Kangz.)

They traced it back to a slave. Come to find out my Aunt has been tracing back our ancestors for many years (old school way using the library) and she knew about her years ago. She has her name and said she was impregnated by a white worker on the plantation. My aunt never said a word about this until my family did the test lol.

Never done one, but just based on what I know of my lineage, I'm somewhere in the neighborhood of 35% Italian, a frick load of french, and dash of Scottish/Irish. May be some other stuff thrown in there somewhere.

An LA Times reporter that looks like an average white guy got a bit of a surprise when he did some digging into the origins of his surname. Check out the Joe Mozingo story, if you're interested.

I did the NatGeo test.

75% Scandanavian (Sweden, Norway)
20% French
5% English

I knew about the French but the Viking portion shocked me.

They listed my trace regions and none were sub-Saharan African. They basically were Jewish and Iberian.

The Iberian part is probably from Ireland. My mom did her test and also got traces of Iberian along with the Irish. You can google "iberian celts" if you're interested.

I found out my ninth great grandmother was an African slave from the Congo and I'm white as you can be.

That's funny. I traced my ancestors to a great uncle who had a African Slave from Congo. Apparently, a local mentally challenged white man slept with the slave. His only job was to clean up horse manure. Strange.

BMATH 100%
European 99.3%
Northwestern European 60.5%
French & German 15.4%
British & Irish 11.3%
Scandinavian 0.7%
Broadly Northwestern European 33.1%
Southern European 15.7%
Balkan 7.4%
Iberian 1.8%
Broadly Southern European 6.4%
Eastern European 10.8%
Ashkenazi Jewish 1.2%
Broadly European 11.1%
East Asian & Native American 0.5%
Native American 0.5%
Middle Eastern & North African < 0.1%
North African < 0.1%
Broadly Middle Eastern & North African < 0.1%
Unassigned < 0.1%

I was actually most surprised by my fairly large percentage of British and Irish heritage.

Also, it was cool to see how my genes compared to cousins who have both parents from the same area versus me who has parents from different parts of the country. 23andme was still able to accurately predict relationships even though I had less genes in common.

Niece gave me the "23 and Me" kit for Christmas. Came back 81% Italian, 12% Sardinian, 4% Iberian (makes sense, great-great grandmother was a Sephardic Jew living in Naples), 3% Sub-Saharan African. Listed 0% trace regions.
