Sure, there has been gene flow across the British Isles. However, there are some differences in settlement history by peoples from various areas in continental Europe.

It's pretty cool that they have been able to identify genetic markers unique to each area.

About 75% British and 20% Irish. The rest was Scandinavian and Caucasian.

I'm adopted and I did ancestry DNA for shits and giggles.

45% British
26% Irish
19% Europe West
5% Finland/Northwest Russia (WTF?)

It pegged me as being related to "Settlers of Southern Alabama and the Florida Panhandle".

My brother did it, so I just assume his results. We were always told our ancestors were Irish & Native American. Yeah, no.

One very common outcome from this type of DNA testing is that many of those that were told they were 1/16, 1/32 or whatever native American finding out they are not.
