Imagine if this virus was killing more people especially younger people or children. The entire world would be coming to a hault. No grocery store workers, no garbage pick up etc. You wouldn’t have open back up rallies because people would actually be afraid to leave the house.

Depends on the area youre in. That would be some FUN down here in the South. Ya know, all of our guns and all. My dad is 65, has a week left of work until he retires, and has some serious firepower in his arsenal. I'm talking night vision scopes, thermal scopes, legit silencers, kind of weapons that can do some serious damage in the wrong hands. I asked him why he spent so much on things that might help with hunting, but aren't truly "necessary" and he simply replied with a stone cold serious face, "I'm getting ready for the zombies." I never imagined I would ever hear anything like that out of his mouth and loved him even more because of that.

How? In historical terms, this is nothing. Let’s say we did nothing, 2% loss of life would be seen as completely acceptable by earlier cultures. They knew harsh times better than we did and what the ultimate cost would be. We are a soft people, and if we fall on harsh times, we’re fricked. The media’s biggest priority in this pandemic is whose feelings are hurt by our mean President and basically everyone who disagrees with them.

This whole thing has just revealed that we are all full of shite. The only greater illusion than our freedom is the revelation that we wont actually do anything to protect it.. Our federal government was unprepared. Well, they were prepared, but someone undid a lot of that preparation. There was no clear federal message, no clear federal coordination, no clear federal response. States were literally told they're on their own. States were bidding against one another for PPE...in the UNITED states. Hell, we still don't even have clear federal guidelines for opening back up.
Our society is more than willing to follow strong federal leadership when the information we need to know is laid bare, threats are understood, logistical challenges are understood, and we know experts are being heard.
The last 4 months has been an absolute comedy of errors that have made ALL of us, this entire country, a global laughingstock.

We live in a federal republic. Response is primarily at the state level and is specifically designed to be that way.
The federal response via states was proactive and effective. Can you name a single person who died for lack of a hospital bed or ventilator?
The feds did supply states but encouraged states to procure supplies on their own if they could bc it is a faster process. Once emergency is declared, they get federally reimbursed anyway.
The "bidding war" narrative is just that. A narrative created by people who have no understanding of the incident command system or how emergency response works.
Trump has done quite well. The media's frantic attempt to paint everything he does or says as negative is not only sad, it is unintentionally transparent.
Trump's popularity will remain static. Trust in newsmedia has declined to its lowest levels.
