Exactly. I've watched the guys around my house and job. 130 degree attics with a fan blowing as they install the central air or water heater. Or they crawl under houses for the repair. I have an abundance of respect for them, but no thanks.

He got lucky. He worked for a company that the owners were getting older and were ready to retire. He bought the biz and has doubled the biz. He does work hard still just because he is stubborn and doesn’t want to hire a lead man.

With what you know now, what would you tell someone like me to look into?
We don't know who you are, so it's hard to say. Are you really outgoing and personable? Are you very studious and introverted? Not that you have to be pigeonholed into either of those descriptions, but it would help to know a little about your interests and aspirations.
Without knowing anything, I will throw something out there that I don't think anyone else has yet; Sales. This is not an easy path for most people. For the people that are good at it, you can make a boatload of money. I'm not talking sleazy salespeople, there are high income earners in very reputable areas that enjoy their lives very much and enrich other people's lives. You make a lot of connections and just by the skill-set of being a salesperson, you can usually make a lot of things happen for yourself by your gift of gab and trading out becomes a nice additional income source.

You have to work your absolute nutsack off to get rich doing this. I’m talking 7 days a week 12 hour days People see the 50 year old guy that now owns the company. But that dude sold his soul from 18-45
This whole idea of trade school being a golden is so over played on this website. A bunch of non-tradesmen telling people trades are the answer when in reality they have no idea

Healthcare is pretty solid. Registered nurse, rad tech or if you’re pretty smart, try the MD route.

Some of the account reps for big IT companies (Cisco, Microsoft, Oracle etc) make bank. I deal with these folks a lot at work.

Guys, not everyone wants to work at a construction site or in a plant.
True. There's a lot of young people who act like it's beneath them or are afraid of a hard days work to make a living by using their hands.
Many want to start working in an air conditioned office making $100K a year with benefits from day one in the workforce.

For sure. And depending on the company, the quarterly/annual bonuses and parties are something else

$150k in the south by a single income is really good depending on the hours worked.

Construction Management or a trade like HVAC or electrical and skip a 4 year college all together.

If you dont konw what you want to do then dont go to a 4 year school, take your basics at a local community college and start looking at what you want to do. You may decide you want to do a trade better than a lawyer/doctor/engineer (anything else and you dont need a 4 year degree)

Pharmacy is a terrible career choice these days, unless you can get a job in a hospital, and those jobs are few and far between.
Can confirm.
I have a niche job in pharmacy working 7:30 to 3:30. No public interaction. No insurance. Very few controlled substance RXs.
probably the best pharmacy job in Louisiana. Otherwise it SUCKS.

Federal Lobbyist. Start by interning for your member of congress in college.
Congress and the Administration will always be proposing dumb things and every industry you can think of requires advocacy at the highest levels of government.
Ehh, never mind.

I worked with kids around that age and I'm always trying to get them to think ahead and about what's going to make them money.
The school I work for is always just like "Take what you're interested in!" and sure that's nice to an extent, but these kids are going to be screwed with that mindset when they go to look for a job.
I know I'm not supposed to be as career-focused as I am, but I feel like I would be doing the kids a disservice if I wasn't like, "So what is your plan exactly with that psychology degree?"
