Get an APOE genotype test and a PTAU-217. PCP can order this. Positive tests mean increased risk of Alzheimer’s.
Start following the MIND diet and start taking B vitamins to hopefully lower Homocysteine levels. Get a Neuropsychology evaluation for a baseline cognitive status, and if decline is noted, start either Aricept or Memantine to slow the progress.
He said that Statins DO NOT INCREASE RISK OF ALZHEIMERS! They actually lower risk of vascular dementia.
He is pretty sharp, reads alot and is usually right about stuff. TIFWIW.

For us, it’s helped to occupy the mind with our hobbies. Keep the household going, keep a routine. Make it to work but get a little more rest than normal. Exercise seems to help a little bit. Wife and I try to be more patient with each other, lean on each other. Thank God we get along. We try not to retreat from life, try to stay social. Sometimes you just have to go through the hard times, no way to get out of them except live through them.

That dude has lived a helluva life. Props to him.
I would worry about ER or Urgent Care visits and the need for a hospitalization if I had some type of surgical need, say appendicitis or gall bladder problems. That could be financially devastating without health insurance.
I like the idea of “Catastrophic” insurance that covers ER and hospital costs only, but I would definitely be nervous about not having any coverage.
