The most valuable thing to them is your time and attention. Not toys or games, but experiences with you. And them knowing you want to be a part of their life and are always there for them is the most important thing you can give

I taught my uncle at the water park that when a four year old tells you he needs to go to the bathroom in line, you ask "#1 or #2" before telling him to go on the slide.

The transistion from “Dad knows everything” to “Dad’s a freakin moron” is pretty tough to take.

But...

The last one is moving out in two weeks and the Mrs. and I are going to Thailand in June, so I’m over it.

How awesome it was when I got to sleep late and/or do whatever I wanted whenever I wanted to do it.

Man, I dread that day. And I'm going to do everything in my power to prevent it regardless of the futility.

My youngest just made me feel pretty ignorant when he came in and asked if we had AA batteries. I said no sorry only AAAs...he said ok that will work. So I'm thinking ok how does that work...he grabs something out the pantry and heads out. Asked him whats up...he grabbed tin foil to fold up use as a conductor to fill the size difference of the 2 sizes.

Kids are great...and nerve racking at times.
BTW AAAs will last about 40% as long as AAs

Taught me that being a dad is the greatest experience in my life, and that my father completely missed out on that feeling.

I batted .500 on raising two step children. The oldest was the daughter. I went down swinging. I think I hit at least a triple with her brother.

1) They have the ability to learn way more than we think they can. If you baby them you will stunt their growth.
2) Time is my most valuable asset. We get too caught up in the day to day things we think are important and miss a lot of opportunities to bond with our children.
3) How to be selfless.
4) What true and unconditional love feels like.

1. I'm not perfect.
2. I don't need to be.
3. Unconditional love.
4. Gods Grace
4. All of this is a temporary chapter. Love it to the fullest.
