You say all government workers are stupid and lazy because of a few anecdotal suicide stories you claim to have heard.

There are men and women in the Border Patrol working right now without pay. I'd consider that to be pretty admirable considering the inherrent dangers

That seems unfathomable. Now I’ve lived paycheck to paycheck before and I’ve unfortunately had to take on some credit card debt just to eek by for a little while, but 15k is just a deep dark hole.

Hmm.
Federal workers pay about 9 percent of their pay into retirement, depending upon when they were hired, that's either all into pension, or split between pension and social security.
Regular private sector employees pay 6.2 of they pay into social security, and maybe pay at least 3 percent into a 401k type plan.
Many state and local employees also pay around 8-9 percent into various pension funds.
