Tools. I sometimes buy tools that I think I'll use in the future but have no current need for.

Same. If I loved a book, I'll buy a cool display copy and another 2-3 to gift.
See: 48 Laws of power in paperback, leather bound, mini, and still have 2 to give away lol

Do you buy a ticket or multiple/a lot?

Feel like the responses you’re getting are more along with “luxury” not “stupid.”
Mine has been hobby board games but I’ve been on a spending hiatus lately.
Stupid: Taxes

It was golf. But not anymore. Stopped cold turkey. That was the most expensive, self-inflicted frustration I have ever brought on.

Between all my streaming subscriptions, Netflix, Prime with about 3 kickers, Apple, YouTube premium, Audiobooks, etc., I probably spend almost $100 a month on entertainment subscriptions. And we still pay an absurdly high price for our cable/internet/home security bundle. Plus the wife still has us paying for our kids cell phones (30 and 27) on an insanely high AT&T bill because someone always NEEDS a new fricking phone.
I spend more on those 3 things than our first house payment.

A new truck. It’s my worst financial habit. Every three years or so I get antsy and cave.
There’s no justification for it other than I drive a fair amount and trade before it hits 100k every time.

Just bought a midlife crisis M2 so I'll be regularly making payments on this admittedly stupid purchase for the next 4 years.
