I was taxing out at SFO when Asiana 214 crashed. Still have pictures of it burning from 2013.

I was also in town (Bogalusa) when the Gaylord chemical plant had a rail car explode. People still getting paid from that lawsuit.
I was one of the first people to know this happened because my dad worked there and I was ~1.5 miles away when it happened.
Were you at football practice?

That Super Bowl parade... I remember thinking there was the real possibility of some kind of crushing incident or stampede. There was one point where we were walking down Canal, and I had a half-empty beer in my hand at the start of the block. At the end of the block that can was flat as a pancake.
I remember waiting in a heap of people in the tunnel for the ferry back to Gretna after the parade and having similar concerns. Had younger siblings with us and we got the hell out when we saw people pissing on the wall due to the wait being so long

Was watching TV when Gary Plauche blew Kevin Doucet's brains all over the wall at Ryan Airport.
Remember getting off work and going home to watch tv when the deadline expired for Iraq to withdraw from Kuwait. Got to see Shock and Awe unfold on primetime TV...
Earliest historical memory was of Kennedy's horse drawn casket. Think I was 4.

The Cabildo fire in May 1988.
I was in Pat O’s with a group of fellow students celebrating completing final exams. We walked outside Pat O’s and were headed toward Jackson Square and we saw smoke starting to escape from the Cabildo roof. Very somber scene….

I remember when the space shuttle exploded. I was in 2nd grade and my teacher was excited that a teacher was going up in space. We were watching it live.. And then BOOM. I can't remember how the 2nd grader me felt, but I remember my teacher crying.
That was really bad! That was the big PR story of the mission and classrooms across the country were tuned in live only to see it blow up.

I have two direct links to Derek Todd Lee’s victims, plus we worked at the same place (he quit just before I started).
I knew Randi Mebruer from high school, actually gave her a ride to school her first day of high school.
I met Pam Kinamore at her shop the weekend before she was killed. I went back to he shop the morning after she was killed (not knowing). And waited 30 minutes, wondering why she wasn’t open.

I went on a high school trip to NYC and have a picture of my class there with the WTC in the background. It's kind of surreal now to look at that picture.
I have one my mom took during our visit. I have been to a lot of places where tragedy happened (Dealey Plaza, the Dakota, Flight 93 crash site, among others) and I think it's generally more of an eerie feeling to have pictures or memories of a place before the event happened.

I watched LSU upset #1 Florida in 1997 from the nosebleeds with my dad. I cried my eyes out because he wouldn't let me run onto the field

The Stones May have play in the Dome in 1978 but they did set a long-standing indoor crowd record that was eventually beaten by a WWE Wrestlemania. George Thorogood opened up for the Stones.
It was 1981.

There’s probably some people on this board who had Space Shuttle Columbia wreckage in their yard.
I have pieces of the shuttle. Luckily the statute of limitations has passed. They were putting people in jail for keeping that stuff. I was also at Barksdale when Bush landed on 9/11.

My first and only meal at WD-50 was the final night the place was open. It was a "Greatest Hits" menu. Wylie Dufresne is a severely underrated chef.
