Didn't get a color tv till 1987. First thing we watched was the 1987 Fiesta Bowl. Never had cable TV growing up.

My parents never got an answering machine. Ever. You could never leave them a message.

Don't remember the name, had a 33 MHz processor though...
Later it got upgraded to 75 MHz, blazing speed. We never had another tower PC after it we all started getting laptops.

A VCR.
Both my parents were diehard Betamax fans.
It sucked going to Blockbuster trying to find Beta movies mixed in with the 100,000 VCR movies.

Caller ID, the old man still loves talking shite to the H1B candidates and the cold call donors.
Still doesn’t have it, I hope I can still have the grit he does at his age.

My grandma didn't have running water until 1975. Used a cistern and rain water. Rural Grant Parish

My parents just got a microwave like 5 years ago as a gift. Since I grew up with no microwave I rarely use it… only to cook “baked” potatoes occasionally. I can’t stand the way food tastes out of a microwave.

Investing .
Love my dad , but “put your money in the bank” is a bad idea. You put it in the market.

Microwave, Color TV, push button phone.
My parents were against all three bc they were too expensive. Oh, and cable TV
But after they finally bought all 4, they were hooked.

We may have been the last family on the street to get a colorTV.

We didn't get a microwave in our house until my grandmother passed away in 1990. She had one that must have been from the 70's it was a massive piece of equipment but that thing worked forever.
My grand dad had one of those from the 70’s. Countertop microwave, damn thing was heavy and built like a tank. I swear it had a nuclear reactor powering it.
Got rid of it around 1998, it was still working.
