I had my DNA tested by Genealogy.com. The results are:

Great Britain - 77%. I thought it was less, but considering that it includes both England and Scotland then I guess it is about right.

Ireland - 10%. About right and I love it. It explains all my irrational behavior and insobriety.

Western Europe - 4%. I thought it was more. What I do have must have come from my Bavarian great, great grandmother.

Finland/Northwest Russia - 3%. This one was a real head scratcher. Then a friend reminded me that the Vikings did make it all the way into modern Germany. After that it started to make sense.

Eastern Europe - 2%. No doubt Saxony. I thought it was more. It explains my belligerence.

Scandinavia - 2%. See Finland/Northwest Russia.

Iberian Peninsula - 1%. Years ago I learned of a far off Portuguese ancestor named Domingo Madeiras. He was a ship captain. That made me want to start hanging out on a beach wearing wrap around Oakley sunglasses, a Speedo, and gold chain necklace with a Crucifix.

Asia - Less than 1%. The results state that since this is so small it might appear by chance. No kidding! If not then it's news to me.

Africa - 0%. - Not surprised.

America - 0%. - Not surprised.

Italy/Greece - 0%. - Not surprised.

Jewish - 0% - Not surprised.

The Genealogy.com website says it can hook me up with some cousins. I hope that at least one of them is very rich and really likes me.

My mother was a slave. She claimed I had no father, so who knows on that side.

I did 23andme. They gave me some else's results. They tried to tell me I was a quarter Puerto Rican, with like 5% sub Sahara African. Just goes to show that even billion dollar companies make mistakes from time to time lol

I think I can reasonably assume it means American Indian.

I just don’t understand how a nation (man made entity) shows up in chromosomes (natural). Must be some inferential glue in that analysis.

There is not even a race gene. Like a single gene that is Caucasian, Black, Hispanic, etc. Multiple variate to infer race so suspect something similar for national descent?

Somebody splain it to me.

I am not going to type all of that kind of shite….but I’ll summarize.

50% - Sicilian with a bit of northern Italian thrown in.

50% - French/English/Irish/Cajun

I found the whole thing very interesting, and if you take the proper precautions (like a burner e-mail) I don’t see how they could possible track the profile back to me without one hell of a lot of work

I don't have the courage to do a DNA test but knowing some of my ancestral names, I'd venture to guess I am heavily from the British Isles and western Europe.

I don't want any surprises on Father's Day.

These traits describe me fairly accurately:

Western Europeans are genetically characterized by a high proportion of Western Hunter-Gatherer (WHG) ancestry, which contributes distinct physiological and phenotypic traits compared to other European populations.

? Physical Appearance: Inherited from WHG ancestors are blue eyes, darker hair colors, and a higher Body Mass Index (BMI).

? Physiological Traits: This ancestry is linked to lower cholesterol levels and lower resting heart rates.

? Facial Features: Western Europeans tend to have sharper, longer facial features, a more protruded forehead and chin, and thinner lips compared to Eastern Europeans.

In my younger years, I was known to have displayed an explosive demeaner.

100% Northern European. Mostly scotch-Irish, English, Scandinavian (Finnish) with a dash of German.

I’m old stock on my father’s side. Direct surname ancestors fought in the revolution and war of 1812

Anyone that's enlisted since the 90s has had a mouth swab done, and their DNA is stored with the least secure major entity on earth: USGov.

I’ve done both 23andMe and Ancestry.com. Cool to compare and the results were similar for the most part. I’m about 45% French, 45% English/Scottish/Irish, with the remainder being Swedish, Russian, and Native American.

I paid for my sister to take one and we found out our paternal grandpa isn’t really our grandpa. We are 25-30% Afghani. My grandparents were teaching English in Afghanistan at the time my dad was conceived sooo it checks out. Still trying to process… it’s odd going from German to Afghani overnight.
