Yea I read a statement from the Vatican trying to cover its own arse.

The leader of a country and a religion doesnt make political decisions?

Looks like a clickbait article from a sketchy "news" source.

So we believe the neo conservative website over anything the Vatican says automatically? Got it.

Yeah I'm older and back in college. I picked up a history class at the mod and just covered all of this. Just now getting to french & American revolution in the eighteenth century.

I agree with this, considering this pope talks about Hell all the time....

Why does anyone still believe in this fictional mythical garbage? The Pope is just a politician.
I'm amazed people still believe.

You said he doesnt make political decisions which is just downright ignorant.

People really need to stop believing everything they read online.

Then to where does he claim Christ descended after his death? Orthodox (little "o") Christology is grounded in the idea that Christ suffered cosmic separation from the Father. It's in the Apostles' Creed.
Is hell literally fire? I don't know. I think it's something far worse than literal fire and literal descent. it's a state of seapation, locked-in, from the inside.
There is plenty room for Scriptural debate as to the meaning of it all. But the Pope's statement on this is mind bogglingly small-minded and reductionistic, for the head of the entire RCC.
The idea that the soul is not eternal may be part of some organized faith or religion, but it is simply heretical to Christianity of any denomination.

Probably so.
The pit of fire and torture by demons is nowhere to be found in the Bible.

Well considering the Christian concept of Hell is based off of an epic poem by Dante, I would doubt it truly ever existed.

Failed attempt at one-upping John Paul II for announcing the Earth orbits the Sun...in 1992.

It’s because he didn’t say it and it’s been rearranged to fit the narrative of this article which is basically a glorified right wing nut job blog.
