The only reason the cost of college has exploded is because of subsidies through government, lotto, or other means.
This isn't talked about enough. Pell grants and Stafford loans, and then the federalization of college loans, directly correlate to tuition and fee increases.

Do it for car insurance, and make sure you don’t ever get pulled over, have an accident, or travel through a jurisdiction where they check plates against insurance coverage.
LOL
You must not live in La. The police don’t give a shite about who has insurance or proper plates.

Have had bare minimum liability car insurance to be legal for the last 20 years. Zero claims.
I haven’t been to a doctor in 30 years.
This is the opposite of risk averse…

What if you accidentally injure someone and they find out about and come after your millions, tho?

Nobody listen to this line of bullcrap. Insure your stuff. If not for yourself, your family.
Full coverage and umbrella doesn't just help you. It helps your family if you become roadkill.

Too late enrollment closed… if you could convince payroll to stop the deductions for everyone

Government will force it
If you have a mortgage, your lender will require it or not give you the loan.
So, really not an option.

I do live in LA, but no clue where OP lives. You’re right, they don’t care until they do. It’s been a few years, but I have them run insurance check points before. And they do have the tech to check plates against the DMV records, for some reason the just don’t utilize it during patrols

What if everyone stopped buying insurance?
Lots of people would go bankrupt at the time they could least afford to do so and almost all of the hospitals would close.

Health insurance you’ll just have to get all treatment at the ER and play the “it won’t hit my credit report” game and/or just make extreme minimal payments
No, that's what happens if one individual stopped paying for insurance.
If EVERYONE stopped paying for it—which was the question—first a lot of people would go bankrupt and then almost all hospitals would close.

If you don’t think you need insurance don’t get any.

Hard to follow this logic. A person’s most significant investment is the home over their head. They’re going to find a way to keep a roof on it.
Yet on the other end of the spectrum, the argument ignored is every story about people willing to pay the 100% increases include a narrative about a health condition that requires treatments that exceed any premium increase. That is the scenario that breaks an industry.

I would be worried that if my home burned down I would have no way to get a new home.
From a commercial standpoint, businesses would be still be sued. Without liability insurance, plaintiff bar would go after personal assets.

What happens if everybody stopped paying income taxes to the government?
Think about this.. Everyone stopped paying income taxes and then there would be someone who represents the people who would negotiate with the government a lower tax rate. Sounds like that would be a job for the people who are elected by the people, but if everyone decided to do that, do you think your elected officials would side with the people or the government?
The problem is, this would require businesses to stop paying taxes for it to be a big enough threat to the government and that will not happen because they would lose licenses, etc.
