I can't think of anything.

My mother died of cancer. Now I try to avoid activities and products that give people cancer.

Having a child, losing a loved one, spending an extended period of time in a foreign country.
All have a way of changing your perspective on things.

I got on the elevator one night in Middleton in the midst of a full-on pity party over finals. Typical self-centered shite- poor me, my life sucks, I hate studying, I hate school, etc.
next stop, this guy in a wheel chair with no legs and only one arm rolls himself into the elevator. I watched that guy get himself on/off the elevator, out the door, and through the quad in a wheelchair, with one arm. Made me appreciate how blessed/lucky I was (am).
Made me reconsider being such a whiny bitch over minor things.

Been there too in 2007. Definitely a game changer for most folks.

My mother's death when I was 18. Dad was left trying to raise 19, 18 and 10 year-old sons.
I figured it was time to be more of a good son and a good brother. Worked out well I might add, considering.

No offense but if hearing that guy ramble about the Quantity Theory of Money was life changing then you lead a very dull existence!
