We spend more than ever n the military yet can’t properly outfit them

Thus there is no “surplus”

Plus lots of places now create and sell “military - grade” stuff direct to the public

I've still got a 3 gallon cast iron pot with lid and a couple machetes I got from Perret's 20+ years ago.

Those machetes have cut down lots of weeds and that pot has cooked many gumbos and jambalayas since then.

I've also still got a pair of Army boots I use when riding my motorcycle.

There was one in Austin way before SA, like in the 50s. It was right under 35 just north of downtown. We would drive up to just shop there before there was one in SA.

There’s one near the former site of Scuttlebutt (RIP in peace) on the Service Road in Slidell. I went in there once about 15 years ago and it was mostly cop tactical gear then.

For the Lar-porators it's all online. 20yr old stuff is that crap camo pattern from mid 2000's I think. I have bought some rucks and dump pouches. They are handy at an outdoor range you can run around at.

I had 5 almost brand new uniforms from the 1990s. Summer and winter Army BDUs. Nobody wants that shite, lol. I had them packed away in my attic. I threw all that stuff away a few months ago. Those old camouflage uniforms look like shite compared to what’s available now.

There used to be one in downtown Covington before it became all high end restaurants and bars down there.

As a kid, my buddy had a surplus M1 Carbine. We would go in there on a Saturday with five or six dollars and buy a bunch of .30 cal ammo (WWII and Korea surplus) and then go shoot turtles and snakes at his farm pond all afternoon. No idea when that place closed, I was off to LSU by that point.
