What foods do you keep in the microwave to protect from bugs?

When my place had a bad roach problem, I had to store my bread and any opened chip bags and cookie containers in my microwave. Even though I no longer have roaches, I still store food in the microwave out of habit.

This is a weird thread. If I actually did have a bug problem, I would get the bugs taken care of.

Tinfoil wrapped potatoes. Makes them easy for reheating. The taste is electrifying.

When I lived on base in New Orleans we got roaches too, but I used this thing called Tupperware to store my already opened food.

My microwave has a 2 inch hole in the back so this wouldn't really help me.

I don't have bugs in my house.

You may be the most honest person on this site, it's kind of refreshing.
But... Bruh, having to hide your food in the microwave from bugs is pretty bad.

Occasionally I will put a few homemade muffins/brownies/cupcakes in the microwave if I am too lazy to get the glass cake plate with top out of the buffet server.
But I have no bug problems so bread and chips and cookies from the store are fine.

Why not just buy reusable air right containers?
Or worse case, keep open packages in the fridge.
We’ve all had to live somewhere with a bug issue, but there are solutions.

I don't leave food open for any bugs to start coming in. Everything goes in containers. Cookies, chips, etc all either can be sealed or they go in a ziplock or actual mason jars. We live in the country and ants will be a problem quickly if we didn't seal everything up.
But I do put food temporary in the microwave. Anything I think the cat would try to eat while I'm eating goes in the microwave. If not, then the cat ends up getting thrown across the room and the food gets tossed.

I've found that if you name the roaches and talk to them like pets, they will make certain food items off-limits out of respect for you.

How gross is your home that you have to do this?

It always seemed to me that bugs in the country are bigger than ones in the city. Maybe they mutated because of so many chemicals used in agriculture. But rats in the city are bigger.

Try putting the cat in the microwave the next time.
I mean, you don't have to turn it on.
