This is quite possibly the most poor, broke arse, ebt, food stamp topic i've ever seen on here.

Used to do that at the hunting camp when we would be gone for the week. It was more for mice, though.

It was full of roaches..
As a CPAP user, I have to wonder how this is even possible.

My first job was at Mr Gattis and the manager would let me bring all the pizza from the buffet home every night. No pizza ever went in the fridge, only stored in the microwave.

Add cock-a-roaches to that list. Mother flippas look like small cats where I grew up. We had a bunch of pine trees and you could hear them flying down out the trees. Enough to make your skin crawl. Then we’d have the flippin bats come in after the cock-a-roaches. It’s a miracle we survived now that I think about it

This should have gone in that "when did you realize you were poor?" thread from a few days ago.

I had to store my bread and any opened chip bags and cookie containers in my microwave. Even though I no longer have roaches, I still store food in the microwave out of habit.
This is a thing. My friend had roaches so bad in his college apartment that he used his oven to store cereal, chips, cookies, bread.
Now he is married in his 40's with a nice house, has a double oven in his kitchen and uses the lower over to store snacks. Habit.
I've watched a lot of hoarders, they do the same thing. Oven is where the clean food goes. Their house is a dumpster but that oven is the holy of holies.

I'm sure rich folks get cockroaches too.

It never occurred to me back then to also use my stove oven. Could have saved many boxes of Cao'n Crunch that wouldn't fit in the microwave with the other stuff.

A smart person would go spend $20 on a sprayer and pesticide to eliminate to roach problem
