I was taught by my blueblood family it was a lack of education and blue color. But I often will do it to get people to relax.

Religious perspective - It is a sin and should be something that everyone should try to abstain from.

Cultural perspective - I see it as a sign of immaturity, attention seeking, and inability to control oneself.

With all that said, I have lived the majority of my life cursing in normal day to day discussion. Just in the last 3 or 4 years have I tried to correct it.

Multi-decade USPS career. I don’t intentionally curse but it just slips out sometimes, dealing with idiot customers who get scammed purchasing crap on TikTok, Temu and a multitude of other sites where sellers are scamming the buyers with counterfeit postage.

It’s a scientific fact that anyone who’s ever lived in an army barracks for any period of time will be a prolific user of rather colorful language for the rest of their life. Only with great effort will they be able to control when said colorful language comes out of their mouth.

My 4yo called his 5yo brother a ‘son of a bitch’ earlier. I told him he better not let his mom hear that

You’re just a microcosm of the universe (god) and there are no mistakes.

If you had my job, you would drop the occasional F bomb too.

I try not to, but I do. Luckily, the lord forgives my weakness if I ask.

About like a bad smell. Unpleasant, but you just keep some distance while hoping it fades quickly.

I don't believe they can repent for those sins. IDC how penitent they are after the sin.

So the entire planet is pretty goddamned fricked right up the arse.

What do you think is meant by using the lord's name in vain?

Dear Lord, please strike down OWLFAN and condemn him to the depths of hell because he tricked me with a thread where he asked if I would eat a banana in less than 7 seconds to win a million dollars but then he edited the question to change the banana to a man’s penis.

For these things I pray and invoke Your mighty Judgment.

Amen

Anything short of that, including a casual “goddamn” or “Jesus H. Christ” is not taking the Lords name in vain.

I worked in O&G for 6 years, now construction for 12. If you dont cuss you won't fit in this environment. No one cares. Its no different than having a shitty redneck accent because you grew up in a shitty redneck town.

Actually, according to the Bible (and I don't profess to be a Bible scholar), there is one sin we can't be forgiven of.

I make it a habit to not curse in front of anyone until they do first. Even then I don't chime in with curse words until I know them better.

This is the only curse word. all others are opinions.

Yes, I hope you kept reading the entire thread. Also, the scripture says "will not" or "will never" be forgiven which is different than "cannot".
