In 2024, 47.1% of households were headed by married couples, the second lowest share since 2022’s all-time low of 46.8%.

The percentage of households with a married couple peaked 75 years ago: in 1949, it was 78.8%. That percentage has been below 50.0% since 2010, when the rate was 49.7%. In other words, less than half of American households have included a married couple for over a decade.

Young people today have watched their fathers, uncles and brothers be absolutely destroyed by a family court system that rewards breaking your vows and inherently favors women. Marriage is a financial arrangement for many women and they are ruthless at it. I will not do family court work anymore. It makes you extremely cynical about love and romance altogether.

What do modern men bring?

Most are overweight now, can’t change a tire, too fat to cut his own grass, and his statins make it difficult to get his dick hard

These threads are so dumb

I’ve been married and I’ve not been married.

Being married is much better.

If you’re a white male, it is extremely important that you find a white woman and have children.

That’s a valid take and all the more reason that our institutions spending the last decade poking the bear by telling men they’re toxic, racist, sexist etc. without any concern for the truth of that was a bad idea

It absolutely was and is a bad idea...the same way that our telling girls that they are too pretty to understand math is a horrible idea.

The way we have raised boys for about 130 years is an insult to the nature of men. Boys need education obviously but at 10 years old a boy does not have the ability to sit still and behave in a manner that a woman approves of....and so female teachers berate boys about being boys and the boy soon develops a distaste for education AND women. The problem is exacerbated when boys begin to mature sexually...girls are told by women that becoming a woman is a beautiful thing....it is mostly ignored by men....but boys are told by men and women alike that their becoming men is problematic....when it is unavoidable. They are shamed and publicly humiliated for maturing and even the girls their own age get in on the act....which does nothing but intensify the boys mistrust of females. There is little wonder men hold women in such disdain....our society teaches us we are worthless and for about 50 years now unnecessary and even a problem....so many men change their outward nature while their actual nature lingers just below the surface....its a dangerous dynamic...

The world is much better off with women being independent and equal. That independecne and equality coming at the expense of men is problematic for both because, again, at the end of the day man is capable of physically imposing his will on woman...and will when forced to do so....it happens in many cultures around the world even today and has happened in the past...and women do not do well in those societies...

Do you think women are happier in traditional societies where traditional gender roles are enforced as opposed to a Western liberal society where egalitarianism is the norm? I honestly don't know the answer, but the number of women in this country with a diagnosed mental illness is staggering.

It’s risk/reward, my brother.

I found me a diamond.

I guess you only attract sh*t women

I guess I found a diamond.

for me it's frequent sex, constant support, voice of reason, does most of the indoor housekeeping, cooks 4 or 5 nights per week, reminds me of appointments, makes my appointments for me, an extra income, keeps me from becoming completely feral. She's made almost every part of my life better. I guess the only part that isn't better is that I don't hunt or fish as much. This isn't because she complains about how much I do it, it's because I like staying home and being around her.

Let’s say like many of them nowadays she is more into her job than being domestic. But you don’t really need her income to get by or do well. Besides sex and being “supportive” when she’s not bitching, what do they bring to the table? To me unless you find a true diamond in the rough, marrying one nowadays is too big a risk.

My wife is a huge sports fan so she’s always wanting to attend sporting events and she actually knows about the sports. She will drink beer and watch college football all Saturday in the Fall.

I think I’ve got a good one.

Mine brings love, homemade tortillas, pupusas, and she does my laundry.

I also like having her around and am 100% trustful that she’s loyal to me.

Her daughter brings lots of laughter and gives me the chance to make a positive impact in a young woman’s life through her tumultuous teenage years since her father is MIA.

Both are very thankful for the love I give them and they return that love to me.

All that said, I do have to remind myself of all this every now and then.

Same.

Loves the tailgates and the fun...

I've been blessed beyond measure more than once with precious wives.

I see these threads and sincerely feel bad for a lot of guys that evidently haven't been so fortunate.

My wife hates women more than I do. Someone once told her she has "internalized misogyny" and she asked if that was slang for not being a useless whore.

My wife brings herself, which is awesome most days, a great job, good attitude, and is quite literally my best friend.

Well I'm past the having children considerations so here is what the current GF brings to the table:

1. No children. Said she was never involved with anyone she really wanted to have children with;
2. Was a gymnast in high school and in her 40s is a Pilates Master, has a reformer in her home;
3. Everything is tight, see 1 and 2.;
4. Went to work for UPS at 17, put herself through college, retired early from UPS (gets a pension) and has been in software (logistics) sales for a Fortune 10 company long enough to be VP of outside sales. With bonuses and commissions makes north of 300;
5. Has dogs no cats;
6. We travel a lot and split everything down the middle, 300 meal, split it, 2500 ABnB, split it.

Seems made up right? its not. There are women like this all over the place in major cities, met this one on an airplane going to Maine. Here is the catch, you cant be overweight or fat, you have to have money and you have to be educated and/or smart.
