We used to just refer to this as common sense. There was also a level of accountability that came with the territory. If you got hurt doing something stupid, your first reaction wasn't to blame the manufacturer of the bike or the city for failing to prevent you from hurting yourself.
We live in a weird time of human history. I'm sure every generation feels that way. I digress.

I was commenting to Mrs. Bard just the other day about the increase in e-bikes and e-scooters. Most of what I see are folks using them on sidewalks or shoulders (on busy roads like Millerville or Florida, respectively) and only being in the roads in neighborhoods (and sometimes on the sidewalks even then).
As long as they aren't harassing people on sidewalks or causing traffic to have to pile up behind them because they are moving more slowly and won't get over to allow faster traffic by, I have no problem with them.

Dude, again relax. Realize you left late, but darting thru traffic will not make up enough time to matter.
Do I get frustrated at things in traffic, sure. Then I tell myself that it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme.

This is comical and you have obviously never ridden a bike on a roadway of any kind especially in a town like BR or Houston. Its called survival. A lot of cities are not bike friendly and its a matter of self preservation. I am living in Calgary right now which is considered a semi bike/pedestrian friendly city but I still have my head on a swivel and observe Ranchos rule.

You do realize nothing you said addresses the danger and liability involved in a child or otherwise unlicensed person driving a motorized vehicle on a road not capable of going normal traffic speed, right? And you do realize that riding a bicycle is legal under its own set of laws, which are often not observed on the road by e-bikers as noted in the OP, and riding a bicycle on a road is disproportionately more dangerous than any other mode of ground transportation?
To say this is being worried about nothing is incredibly dumb.

In Baton Rouge, it is NOT illegal to ride a bicycle on a sidewalk except in two limited situations: (a) you are within a business district, or (b) the chief of police erected a sign on the sidewalk or roadway prohibiting the riding of bicycles.

CHAPTER 20. - OPERATION OF BICYCLES

(a) No person shall ride a bicycle upon a sidewalk within a business district.
(b) The chief of police is authorized to erect signs on any sidewalk or roadway prohibiting the riding of bicycles thereon by any person and when such signs are in place no person shall disobey the same.

im Mandeville a guy on one of those scooters where you have one foot behind the other and they are standing up, split turn lanes and when the light turned green, shot out and took off on the east approach doing at least 40MPH. I was behind him towing a trailer and he got way in front of me. Had a helmet, but no license tag, no turn signals, no brake or taillights, and no inspection sticker. If they are in traffic they need to meet all the same rules as a car or motorcycle.

I have more of a problem with these things being on sidewalks.
Also speed limit is how fast you can go, not how fast you should be going.
