What brought you back to Louisiana ?

Nothing like sla good sack of Louisiana Crawfish, Red Beans & Rice on a Monday, and étouffée on Friday’s . Plus Glumbo , and Dirty, all the great food we have here in this state. That is what brought me back!

Didn't want to burn all of my vacation time traveling back to LA so the grandparents could have a relationship with my kids. I now have overnight coverage for my kids frequently which is a nice perk to have.

We moved away from Louisiana about 5 years ago. It was the best thing for our family but honestly I miss the hell out of it sometimes. I’m trying to convince my wife to get a second home down there one of these days and snow bird it in our retirement. Does it have a lot of problems? Yes. Is it an easy place to live? No. But there is truly no place like it and once it gets down in your soul, man you never really leave that place.

Inherited land and a house. Could have sold it I guess, but its a good spot.
I often think about selling and going up to the mountains when I retire. I may still that, but as I get older I'm thinking more and more about just staying put.

Never left.
My family goes back hundreds of years basically in two parishes.
Does that mean I’m a little inbred? Yes.
Does that mean I can’t leave? No.
But I do find some value in having ties to the place where I live.

Left for undergrad. Came back for medical school. Missed pretty much all the things you just mentioned. No shortage of good meals in NOLA. Not sure if I will stay forever, but would like to stay for residency

Left after undergrad because of Katrina. Returned in 2009 because Post-Katrina/post-Nagin economic bump and energy in New Orleans provided opportunities when the rest of the country was dragging because of the financial crisis.

You do know you can make all these things in other States or even other Countries!

Friends family and low COL. People love to complain about LA, but the grass isn't much greener elsewhere. There is actually a lot to do if you get off ur butt and o do it. It's really just an opportunity thing, if you can find good employment, you can make a good life in NO, BR, of Laffy.

Right? I made beans & rice this past Monday.
I've moved back twice (both times for work) - once back to NOLA and once to BR. I moved to Texas for the first time not long after getting back to NOLA for a better opportunity with my company.
Once I found myself back in BR, we had our kid there and enjoyed a few years being back in LA, being able to walk to and, more importantly, home from LSU games, seeing family, etc., but we eventually found our way back to Texas.
Now, our kid is dead set on going to LSU, so she might wind up back in her home state, but I believe my time as a resident is done.

You’d be an idiot to “go to the mountains”. If you like trees, moisture and good food stay away from the mountains.
I live in Colorado now and it’s awful, I’ve been begging wife to move back to Louisiana for over 5 years. 8 months of winter here is brutal and no rain or trees all summer.

Mountains for me would be Tennessee/Kentucky/North Carolina. Not headed for the Rockies. Fun to visit, though.

My wife and I travel back to BR at least six times per year since my in-laws live in BR and we want them to see their grandkids as frequently as possible. We take in at least two LSU games every year. When I graduated from LSU, I left as soon as possible since there is so much more job opportunities out west in the software industry. I like BR, I know it gets some hate here on the board, but when I am back, I enjoy driving to the now defunct Tiger Plaza where I used to live for a couple years and reminisce about my time there and how broke I was as an older college student after my Army days.
