The other thing CHAD is that undergrads pursue SEC schools more than anywhere. Fully qualified to “ivy league” from New Jersey will come to BR for the experience. It’s a thing guy.

That data is heavily skewed by the large population of black and low income people living in the state. I'm simply saying, if you have a good job and income, you can live well in a nice area and avoid most of the the issues you've listed.

Louisiana will always be home, specifically BR. However, BR now is far from the BR that i was raised in.
We moved a little over 2 years ago and wouldn't change a thing. Luckily we're in driving distance and are able to come back to enjoy the things that we like about BR.

Moved away when we were young. Moved back to be near family..worse mistake I made..raised lids and sent them to lsu. As educated adults they all left the state. And we did also.

Where exactly do you live? I live in Utah, drier than Colorado, and there are trees everywhere. And low humidity kicks arse. Outside of Cajun restaurants, there is plenty of good food if you know where to find it. Or you can learn to cook.

There are also more mountains than the Rockies. East and West Coasts have plenty of moisture and bigger trees, if desired.

I wouldn’t say I hate how it’s changed, but I certainly appreciate and enjoyed it more in the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s.

Haven't moved yet, but I can promise I won't move back when I do.
If you think about it, the positive memories you have of Louisiana are your family, friends, and LSU. You can have 2/3 of those things in another state and watch LSU on TV.

Wife and I left 33 years ago for a job. Since then, we visit 3-4 times a year. We almost moved back 20 years ago for a comparable job, but the pay was so low we couldn't pull the trigger.
Now, as we think about the next phase, Louisiana isn't really on the table. From taxes, to crime and healthcare, it ranks below many places on our list. I wish it was better, but it's not.

Lived in Frisco TX for 34 years. Moved back to Louisiana in 2022, and best decision I ever made.
Got tired of the DFW traffic and wall to wall people. Back close to family and live on open land in rural part of North Louisiana. Absolutely love being back. Will admit to two things I do miss: 1. Huge number and variety of restaurants to eat at. 2. Amazing grocery stores to buy from. Current selection is Super 1 and Walmart..
