If you have education, skills, and work ethic, and go to major markets, you are competing with a ton of like-minded people. In many cases there is so much opportunity in those markets that you should be fine, but if you can make it here, you stand out like a sore thumb in a great way.
The special thing about here that many don't realize is the amount of people who work for themselves or work in a small firm/business that is part of a network. To me, working at a big corporate headquarters is brutal.

Moved to Hou about 15 yrs ago for work. Honestly want to move back, just seems so impersonal here. Every time we go back I’m reminded just how friendly people are. Really never felt like home here and my kids say the same thing

Never left, but I will most likely change my state of residency to Florida because I own a condo there. I will no longer have to pay property taxes on my condo, no longer have to pay state income taxes and my car insurance rate will be lower. The state of Florida has no requirement on how many days you have to reside in the state.

Yeah, that was my experience when I got transferred out to Denver for 3 years.
It might be 50 degrees but it didn't feel that cold. The humidity really does make a big difference.
I hiked up a mountain in the front range in August. Probably 80 degrees at the trail head. It started snowing on me up there towards the top and I had on shorts and wasn't cold at all.
Experienced a hail storm in August. That was weird, and I wasn't even at elevation.

My husband, from WI, is tired of northern winters, and I don't care much for his family (his parents are both passed, his sister is cool, but his brothers (they're all the same kind of engineers) started 2 companies they sold for millions and excluded him both times, so frick everything about them). My family is all from here, so it was easy to use my feminine wiles (and the promise of my mother's cooking) to get him to move with me back to God's country.
