Yeah, for breaking "colors" in 2d grade and writing bad words like shite and damn on that kindergarten writing paper, so I guess that was in k or 1st grade. I wisened up after that.

You were ahead of schedule.
We took a bathroom break in second grade, and I sounded out a new word I read on the wall. As we filed back into class, I asked our very religious teacher, “Miss —-, What does frick mean?” She was pretty cool and just said, “Nice little boys like you don’t say words like that.”

Hell, I paddled TO school.

They still paddled kids when I was in elementary school.
My old man had it rough. His father (my grandfather) was the principal, and naturally held his sons to a higher standard. So when my old man got in trouble, he got his butt whooped twice for the same offense. My grandfather said the first whooping at school was from the principal; the second whooping at home was from the father.

Yes
No, the paddle was always solid.
No, I took "swats" because my parents wouldn't find out that way. The alternatives were before school detention or after school detention. If I picked either of those my parents would have to go out of their way to take me to school or pick me up.
No fricking way was I choosing those options.

I was a 6ft 210 pound 8th grader
Principal was 5ft 6in 150 pounder
Paddle and didn't tell parents greatest school punishment of my life. Me and other kid barely got out of office without laughing

Yes, but not as many as deserved. No holes in paddle, though. When I got in trouble it was typically worse when i got home because I had embarrassed my mother publicly or at a friend’s house. She was tough, but I probably deserved way more whippings from her than I got.

Quite a bit actually. I deserved almost every paddling recieved. I was the recipient of friendly fire once...such is life. I look at it as some guy punching me instead of my friend that really deserved it. After the ensuing scrap, my "friend" and I usually had a long conversation, in kinesthetic brail, while visiting the local Sonics.

Heck yes, Dodson Elem (New Iberia) Tape on my mouth in K and 1st for talking too much. Could be that breakfast at Grandmas house was coffee milk and toast. Paddled in 3rd for something I don't remember. Bad part was my grandma lived right across the street and Principle Leger would kindly walk over and tell of my wrong doings.

Daily. Because of the abuse I suffered as a child I turned into societies worst fear: a successful white male.

Yep but when we moved to Ohio I thought it was weird they didn’t

I would say that I got them all the time but I got quite a few.
Paddlings were much more accepted in the early to mid 80s.
You'd get one for talking in class by some teachers or forgetting your homework.
some with holes and some without.
and yes, if the parents found out? definitely got a worse one at home
