From Kindergarten till the 8th grade. HS just suspends or gives detention.

Yep, and by a relative. 6’5” about 240 lb lefty and that board whistled through those holes right before it landed. He didn’t give a damn that we were related. He was the vice principal and he was going to dispense punishment as earned.

Yes and I have nightmares every night. It has scarred me for life. I should file suit against the school board and claim PTSD. Oh wait I might have fricked up and given some wack job a idea

Yes...Our "disciplinarian" was an ex Navy Commander.....also got the hell knocked out of me by a Coach who taught Civics...for talking in class.

I went to elementary school in Alabama in the 70s, of course I got paddled.

I don’t know anyone that got paddled, but the vice principal had one hanging in her office, and we were all scared of her, even though she probably weighed 90 lbs.

Not me. I was mostly well behaved in school. But my elementary principal wasnt scared to beat some arse with his paddle. The admin office had glass windows to see in. Had the counter, and then desks, and his office was at the back. you could see in his office from the hall when he had his door open. You only saw the end of his desk but not him sitting at it. BUT the SOB had his paddle hanging on the wall dead center in that door way over a small file cabinet, with a fake plant on it, at the end of his credenza. I would walk by, and look to see if it was there or not daily.
Man was like a 6'5+ black man that was the principal of a 95%+ white school. Learned a lot of general stuff as he would hold an assembly every morning. I dont think they make principals as engaging, caring, but stern like him. He would come in, and help teach us basketball during that PE season. Old school bball too not the stuff today.

Got it many times through the 8th grade. One coach had a shaved down baseball bat. He wanted to beat me with it for a completely bullshite reason in 8th grade, and I told him that was not going to happen. Take it up with dad, who happened to be on his way to pick me up. I guess he realized that his desire to beat me with a bat for a minor infraction was sadistic and ridiculous, because he dropped it and never mentioned it again.

My fifth grade teacher made us get him push-up position and she basically chopped us with the paddle. It was quite painful.
