or you can do without socialist giveaway "bailout".

its ok. keep your $110 million salary. just dont expect taxpayers to go along with it.

Most upper-level executive compensation that is in the millions of dollars range is paid through stocks anyway but there are some mid-level people that the $425K cap would hurt and their bonus structures would also take a hit.

It's crazy to me that people don't understand some people are actually worth that and more in the executive world.

I’m not against assistance for people but the package doesn’t seem all that well thought out.

The fact that they’re more worried about stuffing this shite with loads of pork tells you all you need to know about both sides.

You want to force a private industry to pay only a certain amount and set that amount outside their control?

Jesus Christ.

You really should move to China.

You have more in common with the CCP.

Thankfully you are not in control of anything.

You probably support the CCP prison camps.

Scruffy could only imagine what you would do to the Uyghurs.

Quite possibly the worst thing in this country, maybe the world, is a career politician. A person's life's work should not be in politics. It is a civic duty, a service to the people, not a fricking career.
That's as far as my political debating will go.
And which of the Legislative branch are going to 1) propose cutting themselves off; 2) actually vote for cutting themselves off?

Sure thing buddy, we'll get a majority to vote on limiting themselves as they seek ever greater power. Right, uh huh.

We've got term limits now. It's called Elections.

Dems added a lot of pork like funding for abortions, forgiving USPS debt, they want gender and race minimums for the board of directors at public companies, and they want to set caps on executive compensation.

Those fricking Republicans though, for politicizing this and not coming to a compromise.

Dude, you know that 23 year old working in the call center deserves as much compensation as the 61 year old CEO that worked his way up and/or founded the company.

I want private industry to be ready for economic downturns and not have their fricking hand out every time something happens. If they cannot survive a couple months downturn, then they are poorly run and shouldn’t survive.

And Republicans walked back on an agreement over unemployment insurance and were wanting huge corporation bailouts without any restrictions.

One of the big contentions was the lack of restrictions on corporate bailouts. The Dems want provisions that prevent them from taking the money firing workers anyway and paying out increased executive bonuses, a lesson we should have learned from the 2008 stimulus for the financial institutions. I am OK with giving corporations and businesses the money to keep employees and stabilize their businesses but not if they are just going to fire workers while increasing executive pay/bonuses.

Yes, everyone who runs a business should be prepared to have no income while the government fricks up commerce. Tell me more.

And that has shite all to do with what CelticDog was pushing?

What does that have to do with forcing a business to only pay a certain amount to someone?

Whole time, its the people who need help and aren't getting it. Our politicians are 95% terrible and out of touch with what people need and want.

Let's not pretend like this is some ordinary economic downturn.

What happened?

1. Senate Democrats & Republicans negotiated a deal that helps both workers and companies.
2. Nana you Pelosi came in with a laundry list of demands, demands she knew have no hope of passing and many of which have nothing to do with solving the crisis.
3. Senate Democrats got in line with the Party Line and killed the bill.
