Using this as a political stunt is a tragedy. I guess they need to get the planned parenthood funding from somewhere. It's ironic that they want to collapse our economy in order to save a couple thousand people, but they have no problem using this stimulus package to fund an organization that kills hundreds of thousands of people annually.

The government shut down the economy. They need to be helping out the people that they fricked.

the $425K cap would hurt and their bonus structures would also take a hit.
It's crazy to me that people don't understand some people are actually worth that and more in the executive world.
how does making only $435k hurt?
ridiculous language.
its a choice.
no bailout. make what you like. no one is going to force corp x to take the billions in socialist money.

The "performance" portion of exec compensation is very much tied to many of the reasons these corporations are entirely cash strapped and can't survive a month with low revenues.
Where do y’all get these ideas?

I think they'd be in a vastly different situation if they didn't spend every waking unaccounted for cent on share buybacks.

It was going to be more when you add in dependents. $1000 is the baseline I think.

Dems added a lot of pork like funding for abortions, forgiving USPS debt, they want gender and race minimums for the board of directors at public companies, and they want to set caps on executive compensation.

So you think it’s feasible for the average business to have little no no income for weeks or months and keep hugging along on it’s own without a hitch?
Also, What good does it do if you help workers through this crisis if when it’s over they don’t have a job to go back to?
Yes. Citizens are encouraged to have emergency funds to get through a downturn, companies should do the same. If they can’t survive a month downturn without putting their hands out, they shouldn’t be in business. There is already loan options with record low interest rates.

They must want the economy to tank.
This shutdown will hit waiters, bartenders, etc very hard. That’s assuming we kick things off again in April. If it lasts longer, we are going to have bigger problems.

What happened, Peej?
And nothing against you but people already getting a guaranteed check via disability or welfare shouldn't be eligible for this IMO.

And that has shite all to do with what CelticDog was pushing?
What does that have to do with forcing a business to only pay a certain amount to someone?
I think if "we" are giving the companies "our" money to stabilize their business and keep workers employed we can require they use the money for that and not increased executive pay/bonuses. It would be stupid to give "our" money to them with zero restrictions, we are giving the money to them for a reason and if they won't use it to that end they shouldn't get it.
