I was listening to Blame It on the Rain last night, and it occurred to me that one would have to be pretty stupid, or at least gullible, to believe that it was sung by anyone other than a big American black man.

And....it works both ways. I guess you'd have to be pretty stupid, or at least gullible, to think this song could be sung by anyone other than an American black man.

Oops.

They won’t play Mr Roboto due to the fallout with Dennis DeYoung.

That's one reason....the main reason is the song sucked.

That was definitely when I jumped off the Styx Bandwagon, and the idea was basically stolen from Rush 2112. DeYoung took rock perfection and dumbed it down to a smarmy Broadway play.

For the record, he goes by the name "Tortelvis".

Saw them at Tip's once. Awesome.

Many favorites already mentioned, but here's two that aren't.

That left field wall is hot garbage.

I tend to agree. Plus you can barely read the words "War Eagle" on it--it looks faded.

Plus the left field line (and maybe right also?) is so close to the seats the player barely has room before running into the stands.

I do like the organ though.

Refs in that game were total pussies. Knight intimidated his way to that Final 4.

I believe he kicked a chair and also slammed his fist into a phone at the scorer's table during that game. What a jerk.

I go to Fest every year. I never camp out at a stage for a big name, and I really rarely care about the big names. Somebody big I really like? That's an added bonus. I bop in and out of the smaller stages. Some of my most memorable moments are at the Lagniappe Stage in the Grand Stand. I like listening to folks I've never heard of or never seen before. I enjoy the food and the people watching.

Weak lineup? Maybe so but I enjoy the 70+% of artists from Louisiana as much as any big name.

Hey SOMEBODY had to post this one...worth it at least for the playboy bunnies and cameos.

Clicking on the link I half-expected a redo of the Peyton Manning SNL skit.

I get the play at the plate, but yet another of many incidents of an infielder running out to the outfield to make a play and fricking up the fact that the outfielder can make the play better.

Great scene at the end where Jack Black's band, Sonic Death Monkey, becomes Barry Jive and the Uptown Five doing some Marvin Gaye.

John Cusack's intro--"I'd like to introduce the band...PLEASE DON'T LEAVE".

From Little League up to the majors, there’s nothing I hate worse than when an infielder sprints at the top of his speed to the outfield and screws up the outfielder’s chance to make the play.

Ten Years Gone is one of my top 10 rock era songs. Perfection.

One review at the time:
quote:

Jim Miller of Rolling Stone described "Ten Years Gone" as having a progression reminiscent of the Beatles' "Dear Prudence" that "resolves in a beautifully waddling refrain."Miller also believed Plant sounded like Rod Stewart on the track, with Page "scooping broad and fuzzy chords" behind him.

If you have time to check out the Museum of Flight, it’s well worth the trip. The collection is really fantastic.

I’m assuming you’re talking about the Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville, Oregon. Yes, great place. That’s where the Spruce Goose is. There are four buildings: the aviation museum, the space, Museum, an IMAX theater, and a waterpark with a 747 on the roof that you can slide from into the building and into the pool. It’s a must see. Plus, you’re in the middle of wine country, Willamette Valley, although with the family you may not be doing a lot of tasting.

Can appreciate both as separate things. Fan of blues music in general and can appreciate ZZ top through that. But musically, Steely Dan are likely a step above in the music they put out.

Opinions differ, but this is the correct answer. As others have said, it's comparing apples to oranges, and the OP may have succeeded in starting a discussion but asking "who's better" is utterly ridiculous.

I've seen both many times, appreciate both for what they do, and still listen to both at home and on the road often. Each excel in their selected craft.

Thanks Top and Dan...
