Reminded me of his comedy from 1987, Hollywood Shuffle. It has some pretty hilarious bits.

That dude needs to do that to another dude and get what's coming to him. IMO he's far and away the worse of the two. He's so harsh, it's gotta be an act.
Spent 5 days there a year ago but stayed in an Air BnB a ways out from the center. If we go back though, it's the Gothic Quarter for us too.
Great description of your trip. We're thinking of going next year.

Did you do any vineyards/wine tastings/etc.? With my wife that's a MUST.
I have a friend who always texts "Give me a call when you get a minute".

JUST FREAKIN' TELL ME WHAT IT'S ABOUT!!!!!!

Same with a voicemail.
A few years after my mom died my retired father said he had a girlfriend. He was already slowing down a bit mentally. Eventually I looked at his bank statements and at least $200/day was going out from cash withdrawals. (he was old school--went to the bank and withdrew from the teller). Then one month there was $4000 worth of money transfers to this woman as she was on vacation...by herself. I then signed on to his account online (he didn't know how to do it) and showed him the totals. Now I was already noticing signs of dementia. I facebook messaged her and told her my Dad's money train had pulled out of the station. Was able with the help of his doctor to get Power-of-Attorney--that's the hard part if you have a parent who's not willing. It helped between me, the doc, and the attorney that he had been forgetting to pay bills.

Sadly, his dementia/Alzheimer's journey had just really begun.

Anyway, good luck.
The Rockford Files...didn't Jim Rockford get beat up pretty much every episode?

Used Cars
Bad Boys (sean penn not will smith)

Yes, Used Cars (Kurt Russell) is the best comedy from that era that most folks I know have never seen.

And the Sean Penn "Bad Boys" is a highly underrated movie. Great cast too.
from Wiki, "Bad Boys is a 1983 American coming-of-age[2] crime drama film set in a juvenile detention center, starring Sean Penn, Esai Morales, and Clancy Brown, Alan Ruck and Ally Sheedy in their film debuts."
And how someone can say Otis is overrated is beyond me. For someone who died at only 26 years old his voice exuded the soul of a much older singer.

I mean for a guy that sounded effortless, Nat King Cole was fantastic. Otis Redding was a great singer.

Beat me to it! Even though he's not in the same soul/pop genre, I always thought Nat King Cole had the smoothest voice I've ever heard. This song is one of the greatest ever recorded, IMHO.

Traiter to his country

No NIL in his day. No guarantee of the Olympics if he's the best in the world but misses a jump at the USA Trials. LOADS of cash offered to perform in Europe at the age of 19.

Like you wouldn't leave the US for a better job in Europe?

re: Portland, OR

Most breweries per capita in the US. Also, lots of strip clubs, but I was there with my wife, so...

Stayed at the Benson Hotel, really cool 100+ y/o hotel in downtown Portland with an excellent lobby bar.

We spent two weeks total in Oregon. After 3 days in Portland drove the Columbia River Gorge, stayed in White Salmon, WA up on the bluff overlooking Hood River for 3 days, went to Mt. Hood for a day, then Bend for 3 days (great brew and hiking), and finished up in Willamette Valley, a must if you like wine.
In Willamette we stayed in McMinnville, great little town in the middle of it all. It also has the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum which houses the Spruce Goose--Howard Hughes' plane that was the largest in the world for decades.

So yes, a great place to visit!

Always liked their cover of John Lennon

It is nice but it's the exact same arrangement, plus strings. Sounds like they're even trying to sing like Lennon.
His draft status is running backwards, just like he does under a pass rush.
My bro was a DJ at KLSU sometime back in the late 80's/early 90's. Went by the name "Brother John". Not a stoner, just a Ph.D. music geek who also put out a music mag called "It's the Music, Stupid". Also had his name on several plaques at the Chimes for drinking around the world.

Played alternative music, interviewed BTE, Becky Sharp, others. Got into trouble with the Program Director for playing the occasional Beatles song.

To this day he goes to clubs in NC listening to and publishing online interviews with alternative bands.

"Sweet Jane" by Cowboy Junkies. Same as above.

Remake of the Lou Reed song with the Velvet Underground. Loved that band and saw them at Tipitina's back around that time.

For those who also haven't heard of it...
