Thinking like this needs to become more normalized. Tipping has gotten absolutely absurd

Rip the 20 in half.

Put one half in each of your front pockets, then hand him the $1 and ask for change.

Ask for change on the $20. Valets are well known cash carriers.

Guarantee you they’ll break that 20 for you. Ask him for three fives.

Give him the $1 while looking him right in the face, and force him to look away first.

Give him the $20, no change requested.
Is $20 gonna negatively affect your life going forward.
Could make a difference in a struggling valet’s day however.
Do it and feel good about it and keep it to yourself.

Why didn’t you just park your own car and walk to the door?

It probably isn’t that far of a walk

As you are a Bumble fan, have you considered sexual favors instead of cash?

Easiest thing to do when going into the “city”, I grab a handful of $5’s, keep them together in my front, right pocket for bellhop/valet/whatever

Zero chance I’m paying some dude $20 to park a car unless it’s my Maclaren that he’s going to stand near all night guarding and rubbing with soft cloth

“If you’ve got a $10 on you I’ll split this $20 with you.”

I’d probably just give him the $20 though.

Piss poor planning prevents proper progress.

(On your part)

I don’t ordinarily carry much variety of cash but fortunately Mrs Füt (no pics) generally has a couple $10s & $20s squirreled away.

When I travel in foreign countries I always have a variety of their denominations on me.

Don't give him shite. Tipping culture is OOC

Besides, you got your car back at that point.

$28 bucks to park overnight is cheap. Give the valet the twenty.

And neither would I-------but I'd make damn sure I had more than a $1 and a $20 when the time came to get my car.

Give him the $1 so we can get a thread from him later about how cheap people are these days

Funny you say that, I was at Marriott two weeks ago and tried to get change at the front desk. She informed me that they are a cashless hotel.

Long gone are the days of being able to cash a check at a hotel or make simple change. I hate that.
