What he's saying, is that if there is a clear, credible threat...then the snipers have the green light to take the shot.

Is it possible due to the glare from the setting sun, etc. that the Secret Service could not fully distinguish that he had a rifle with him?
Surely, the guts on the ground seemed to know, but how fast can word get up to the guys on the barn top?

It is terrible for. To come off your glass in that moment. Granted, it doesn’t appear he has a spotter helping him, but you still don’t come off your glass. Turn your magnification as low as possible but don’t come off your glass.

personally I would have popped a UAV and then launched a throwing knife at him. Probably hop on comms after to inform everyone I killed the camping pos.

This guy has a good k/d so I’m not judging him. That’s just how I would approach the lobby.

Conspiracy theorists will presume something sinister was going on, but the most likely situation here is that there was miscommunication between SS and local law enforcement about reports of someone being on the opposite roof. I.E. bystanders were pointing it out to police. Police were confused and/or unsure about it possibly being SS. SS were confused and/or unsure about it possibly being law enforcement.

Police are supposed to know where SS is, and vice versa. When people are yelling and pointing at someone on a roof with a rifle, if you have no idea where other security is stationed you lose critical time.

It was a huge fail. And for those of us who remember when Reagan was shot the iconic images of the SS guy with the Uzi, it was distressing to see the obese chick struggling to holster her pistol.

At that moment SS saw the threat. Why wasn’t Trump being pulled down or pulled off the podium?

don’t come off your glass
If the target is within your magnified field of view, yes. You adjust and acquire the target. If a shot rings out and it's not in your field of view, you come off your glass. Multiple reasons:
1. You can look for reactions near a potential target location that can help you narrow down where you should readjust your glass to.
2. Your spotter may be giving you a location to adjust your aim to, then you go back to your glass.
3. If multiple shots are coming, you have the potential to locate muzzle flash and get back on your glass.

If you're all the way down in 6x magnification and you have zero reference to where the shots are coming from, you come off your glass 100% of the time if you're worth a frick behind a scope. You've been reading too much of the Chris Kyle bullshite taking that as SOP

I don’t think either of those 2 guys killed the assassin. Another SS got him from a spot 488 yards away per one account I read.

I have no problem with the snipers. I wasn't there looking through their scope. I don't know what they could or couldn't see.

But I do think they shoulda gotten Trump off the stage immediately when they were warned there was a potential shooter on a roof.

Why are there two snipers in the same spot and not more snipers on every rooftop within yards of Trump?

It’s hard to see but it seemed like a ton of people in The stands all the way to left were already focused in that direction

She could not draw her pistol out of her holster and two minutes later, she couldn’t get it back in the holster.

She needs an immediate transfer from the field to a desk job

There was a post saying that he saw the person and could have taken the shot but they wouldnt give him clearance… even after the first shot they didn’t give clearance and he took it upon himself… supposedly he was fired this morning… now sure how true all this is but if it is then it sounds like it was a government hit

In that video, it doesn’t appear that either shot their gun.

I’m pretty sure it was a team behind them that made the shot

Probably trying to get eyes on the guy. Scope could have been dialed up if he was looking for threats 4-800 yards away. Had to dial back to get a sight picture. Looks like a pretty high powered scope. Not a 6x probably a 25x or higher.

Worth investigating…..

I want to see a live interview with that sniper in front of Congress ASAP.
