WBRZ

quote:

According to The Pillar, the Vatican ordered an investigation in the Diocese of Baton Rouge after Bishop Michael Duca allegedly discouraged a whistleblower from calling police after a local priest allegedly admitted to sexual contact with minors. The diocese confirmed to WBRZ that in October 2025, it received a report of "serious boundary violations with an adult" regarding Father Charbel Jamhoury, a pastor of St. Isidore the Farmer in Baker; the diocese said afterward, it "contracted with an independent, private investigator to examine the matter further."

quote:

Zumo said that the victim, an adult Catholic male in the Baton Rouge diocese, alleged Jamhoury made a sexual advance with "physical touching involved" toward the victim and admitted to past sexual behavior with "minor boys." Zumo also said the inappropriate behavior was reported at the end of September, with no formal action being taken leading into him calling law enforcement on Dec. 17, 2025. He also said the diocese did not inform parishioners that they formally removed Jamhoury and forbade him from doing ministry in the diocese.

Story broke 12 hours ago or so.

Wasn’t Father Charbel the priest at Mercy for many years???

At some point, the Catholic Church will figure out letting priests marry and have sex with women will solve so many of their problems.

Why do priests always target boys? Especially with the Catholic Church’s attitude towards homosexuality?

“He (Jamhoury) detailed a history and a desire for oral sex with minor boys in graphic detail,” Zumo said. “If there’s a case where you suspect potential child abuse, as a volunteer for the Diocese of Baton Rouge, I’m a mandated reporter.” Zumo said once he learned of the inappropriate behavior, he scheduled meetings with the Vicar General, Father Jamin David, and Bishop Michael Duca. However, after two months of nothing happening and Jamhoury still showing up at church, Zumo said he went to the authorities last December. “After I hung up the phone with the detective, I actually received an urgent call from Bishop Duca. So I’m assuming Father Jamin and Bishop Duca read my email, and Bishop Duca called me urgently,” Zumo said. “He said, Luke, you don’t need to call law enforcement. You’re just going to muddy the waters.”

Holy shite, a more damning and detailed article. KCRG

I also don’t trust the Nola Bishop to head this. Seemed like a conflict of interest if that Bishop & Duca are buddies

Because predators choose to work in fields where they'll have unsupervised contact with young boys.

Priesthood is one of the best paths to take if you want to frick little boys and get away with it. Until recently, the diocese would just move you somewhere else and bury the story.

The trists with adult females don’t make the news and lawsuits are rarely filed. That happens more than you might guess.

A poorly kept secret is that some church women really throw themselves at the halfway decent looking priests.

Why didn’t he just go to the police first rather than the archdiocese? Especially with the Church’s track record at mishandling this?

In order to get the job you have to swear off pussy.

Limited pool of candidates willing to do that and a lot of those are hoping to avoid urges.

This generally isn’t a priest problem. It’s a homo problem. Most of them who do this shite are closet homos. And homos have a higher rate of being sexual deviants. That’s why it always seems to involve young males.

That being said I do not understand why this always seems to be covered up. It’s almost as disgusting as the act they are trying to cover up.

WAFB had this statement from the diocese:

quote:

In October 2025, the Diocese of Baton Rouge received a report of serious boundary violations with an adult regarding Father Charbel Jamhoury, a priest of the Maronite Lebanese Order, who served as pastor of St. Isidore the Farmer in Baker. After receiving information regarding these allegations, the diocese contracted with an independent, private investigator to examine the matter further. It was announced on the weekend of 27/28 December 2025 that Father Jamhoury would temporarily leave the parish for a full health evaluation of his physical, mental, and psychological well-being at a professional, inpatient facility outside of the diocese.

After extensive conversation with all parties involved and an investigation which also included interviews by law enforcement, the diocesan investigation, and the full health assessment of Father Jamhoury, Bishop Duca determined that Father Charbel be removed from his office as Pastor of St. Isidore effective immediately, and this was accomplished in early February. Since that time, the following statement, which was read by Bishop Duca at all Masses at St. Isidore Parish the weekend of 07/08 February 2026, has been publicly available on our diocesan website concerning the matter.

quote:

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office acknowledged a complaint was made by a third party, saying something happened with another adult, which as of yet, they have not found anything to substantiate. It has been suspended pending new evidence.

It sounds like the diocese turned it over to law enforcement for legal charges and handled the adult homo stuff by removing him

Yeah, because married men can't be in the closet, right?

I've known men that were married to women, only to come out as gay.

It's not a "not allowed to marry" problem.

Yep. Diocese and law enforcement investigated, found zero evidence that what this guy said about contact with minors had any merit, and removed the priest for making a pass at an adult man.

Which is all exactly what should happen.

A significant portion of priests are homosexuals.
