Coffee and beef are still high, but this is hardly news.

Grocery stores put coffee on sale or do BOGOs. Watch and buy wisely. I have a few brands I like, shop wisely, buy when on sale, and never pay more than $7 for a bag.

Beef isn't coming down any time soon. The national herd needs to be rebuilt because the numbers are very low and have been since before the last election cycle. The effects are hitting hard now, but the causes have been there since before Trump, and there are many causes. A lot of smaller producers are selling out because of high prices and their age. It's not a game a young man can get into unless he inherits the land.

2 years ago when average coffee prices, according to this report, were supposedly $6.00/lb, this same bag still cost $7-$9. At no point has it ever been $4.50 (6.00/lb) for this bag, or less than that

$6 used to the be the regular price for a bag with $4 being the sale price. Now the regular price is $10 and the sale price is $7.

It's absolutely going up.

So, now you don’t want to talk about food prices anymore?

You’re not very good at this.

This is not close to being “news”. The price of those two things has been surging for quite some time.

Trump said he would bring them down. He hasn't. Its news.

The point i was making is that it's been the same price for the last several years. 2 years ago when average coffee prices, according to this report, were supposedly $6.00/lb, this same bag still cost $7-$9. At no point has it ever been $4.50 (6.00/lb) for this bag, or less than that.

Well it probably used to be 16oz bag, but shrinkflation reduced it to 12oz.

At Sam's, the Dunkin Donuts coffee has gone from about $14 to $25 over the past 5 years

I mean the price of coffee doubled in Biden's term, so I guess percentage wise, Trump isn't doing as bad

Are some of you unaware that individual prices within an Economy rise and fall based on supply and demand?

In the case of beef, prices have been rising for years due to dwindling cattle supply

What specific policy do you want to fix that?

Do you not see the surge from 24 to 26?

In general, economists like inflation to be around 2% annually

That doesn’t mean all prices rise 2%.

It means the average of all prices results in 2% increase

Aka prices of some goods rise 10%, some fall 7% , some rise 20%, some fall 30%, etc

What the OP is doing is taking the single largest price increase-beef- and using it to spread alarm.

It’s illiteracy

hell I've been wanting to talk about them.

every time the government adds to the national debt they are pretty much ensuring that prices are going to go up across the board.

Considering beef and coffee is probably 70% of my diet this is unwelcome news.

That's not my job.

That has nothing to do with "that's not news they've been rising since 2020." You can clearly see they have jumped significantly as well from 24-26.

How hard would it be to start buying products from the manufacture? Like Frank Lucas in American Gangster "I want to get it where they go get it". The middle man is hurting American customers.

It’s not the job of the government to regulate market prices

Beef prices rising is Econ 101.

Econ

Always able to explain why the middle class getting squeezed dry isn't the fault of the people raking in more money doing it.

Seldom able to offer solutions that actually balances it out a bit.
