Even mediocre mash can have redeeming qualities if the cuts are on point.

Keep the first and last thirds and run them through again with your next batch. Not only can the first third make you blind it can actually kill you. Keep the middle third of the batch to drink.

You don't have to use corn to make moonshine. You can make it using nothing more than sugar, but it tastes horrible. Chicken feed makes good moonshine. Peaches make a liquor that is over the top.

I don't know these things from experience. It is just what I've been told by a friend from North Carolina.

Great. Now everybody is going to quit their jobs to stay home making moonshine and getting drunk.

Bananas make one helluva brandy.

You can also use amylase or...spit to yield a higher sugar content.

The 5th Circuit ruling only covers Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. So act accordingly depending on your location and I’m sure it will be appealed. But currently, light em up!

Home distilling has been a big thing for many years now. If you aren't selling it, nobody cares. You can buy distilling equipment Online and have it shipped . It's like home brewing now

Brown County Red

I started out young
With my daddy's shotgun
Making corn liquor to sell

My Mamma said son
There’ll be trouble to come
I thought I was doing well

I got in a bind
On the Brown County line
And I shot three deputies dead

I went on the run
And before I was done
The Ohio River ran red

I can't tell it's night
Til they turn out the light
I don’t know the day or the hour
They locked me up well in the Brown County Jail
And I'm going to hang till I'm dead
Cause I painted brown county red

The judge he looked down
With his gavel and gown
And said it's the end of the line

In the eyes of this court
You have lived by the sword
And by the sword you're gonna die

They'll bury me
Underneath that oak tree
So please carve these words in the trunk

I'll never more kill
For an old liquor still
Here lies the Brown County drunk

I can't tell it’s night
Til they turn out the light
I don’t know the day or the hour
They locked me up well in the Brown County Jail
And I'm going to hang till I’m dead
Cause I painted brown county red

I can't tell it's night
Til they turn out the light
I don't know the day or the hour
They locked me up well in the Brown County Jail
And I’m going to hang till I'm dead
Cause I painted brown county red

So I have brewed beer for 20 years. Looks like I need to get into this.

So what should I but? I'm cheap. I want triclamp. So I can add plates or reflux later. Love it to be electric as I built an electric controller for my beer setup.

The cheapest way to go is get a stainless keg and add a water heater element. Tri clamps are used to attach the riser of your choice with the ability to upgrade at any point.

You can eliminate the element and heat with gas, but it adds more danger in a worst case scenario, I.e. product leak.

Well my heating elements are triclamped into my brew pots too. Yea I have seen the keg kettle. I ran a keggle brew system for years and luging kegs around get old.

And I don't like the though of only having the 2" access to the top. Id like a good 6-12' clamp on lid to get access to clean.

I tried distilling in the kitchen one time in Saudi Arabia in 1985. Made several gallons of wine and set up to distill out the ethanol using drug store quality equipment. I had to shut it down and ventilate because equipment leaks filled the kitchen with highly flammable/explosive vapor .

never tried that again, just drank the wine
