You’re going to side with labor over ownership. We know.
They own the company, not the labor.
The labor has the right to negotiate pay and working conditions.

What if someone like me owns UPS stock? That cost savings of not having to pay as much in labor and such means better stock prices.
Maybe you should consider buying stock in southeast Asian sweatshops then.

Nah I mostly invest in US companies. I care about the country unlike the unions who cause nothing but trouble for the most part. They almost ruined the US auto industry.
And especially a big screw you to civil servant and other government related groups who do way more harm than good.

in my line of work they are responsible for, and continue to be responsible for safety regs, duty regs, and work with controlling regulatory agencies to help assure a system of checks and balances to try to ensure the safest operation possible, you're probably too young to remember 9/11, but my union, as well as a couple of others in the industry restored airline travel in this country, and had to lead the "management" of the airlines by the hand every step of the way because that wasn't covered at Wharton

Unions have wrecked and bankrupted more American Companies than anything else in recent history. They served a purpose long ago, but now are a cancer to the American way of life. Luckily the auto makers in this country survived the unions attempt to bankrupt them.
Union membership has been in a steady decline and will one day hopefully disappear. Good riddance.
Unions promote lazy unmotivated employees looking to maintain cushy overpaid jobs. They are anti management and disrupt the flow of business and whine about every imagined hardship that non union workers take for granted. Instead of sucking up their gut and getting the job done, they whine and cry like girly men. That's union life. Unions suck.

NO driver wants AC during the summer. You are getting in and out of the vehicle 150 times a day. That much temperature change throughout the day will make you sick...as in fall out. Give me a fan over the AC any and all days of the week.
When I was the steward at a TGI Friday’s many years ago, the ice cream delivery man told me he got pneumonia at least three times a year from getting in and out of the freezer truck and going into walk in freezers, particularly in the summer.

I can’t speak for other industries, but his description of the unions operating for Airlines is spot on. Unsung heroes, and shouldn’t be lumped in with other industry unions.

Incompetent management did the auto industry in and then the government went and bailed them out. Welfare in other words. The thinking that companies are this wonderful life giving force baffles me. The people are what count, not a liability shelter that exists on paper.
And as far as stock goes, that's a whole 'nother set of problems and issues. Labor is not what affects the stock price. Again that goes back to management.

You're right, I've never been union and I've never ever seen this happen repeatedly in a non-unionized force. It's definitely never the arse-kissers and back stabbers that get promoted by their buddies. Nepotism never happens thanks the "right to work" legislation.
Neither one is perfect but the state we have right now where wages have been dead for decades thanks to not having any representation is not sustainable. The country and stock market is richer than ever but no one on the ground is seeing the money. So explain to me where all that money that has been gained from decreased wages has gone.

You're a fricking idiot. Labor is often times a companies largest expense, but it doesn't affect stock prove? Interesting theory, Keynes.

NO where as easy as you might think. It is a physically demanding job. It will tear your body down over time. In the summer the back of the truck gets upward of 125 degrees. Mentally you have to think on your feet. You are under serious time constraints in the AM. A lot depends on your route...city, rural, business', or residential. It's by no means a 6 figure job but worth every penny of 75-80.
Similar things can be said about work that pays half that.
How is turnover? Ease of finding candidates?

I work for DHL. We're gonna put on extra aircraft for international if UPS strikes. The problem with these sorts of work actions is that each parcel carriers network is a little different. When one of them has commerical trouble, like FedEx/TNT had with the virus infection in Europe last year, we wind up with a lot of ground freight that doesnt fit our network. its not all roses. Its trouble for everybody really.

This nonsense happens every few years. Last time it was the UPS pilots threatening to strike.
