As a new parent with a 7 month old baby girl, your story really touched me. I’m happy to hear that they figured it out, and it sounds like she’s doing much better. What an ordeal to go through. A parent’s instinct is truly amazing.

She’s beautiful; congratulations!

I don't blame the pediatricians, I really don't. This was such a weird and rare thing. Even the team of specialists didn't know what it was until they scoped her throat.

Doctors are taught not to look for zebras.

I understand that thought BUT your daughter had obvious major breathing issues. Reflux doesn’t cause breathing issues. It sounds to me like the doctor who diagnosed reflux was lazy and didn’t consider every symptom she was having.

My family has been royally fricked in the last 15 years by doctors who don’t consider every symptom. I saved my father in laws life in 2013 by googling his symptoms he was having with a terrible internal leg bleed. Doctors kept him in the hospital for weeks and just said they didn’t know what it was. When they finally sent him home they told him good luck. He got home and it got so much worse that he was incoherent from the pain and couldn’t get out of bed. I googled his symptoms and came across a case study that a doctor did on his patient with the same symptoms. That patient died after bleeding out internally. I printed the case study, wife called 911, and paramedics brought him back to the Lake. I gave the doctors that case study and told them to review it.

Turns out he had the exact same thing (a major bleed of the psoas moluscle - spelling?). Doctor said if that hadn’t been found exactly when they did he would have died.

If I can save my father in laws life by googling when the team of doctors had no fricking by clue, that’s a major problem. This is just one of a few examples I have from years past. frick doctors. Like you said, YOU know your child and YOU know YOU way better than any doctor does.

Had something similar with my daughter when she was 3 months. Kept.pukong and couldn't hold anything down or poop. Doctors said it was a bug.

She went limp and we.took her to the ER where they had to open her up the next morning and found a blockage in her intestines. Intessuception I belive is what it's called

Beautiful! Continued good luck!

Also “Displaced” was the name of my son’s rock n roll band circa 2005. They never performed and only knew one song...Iron Man. Also, only one of them was actually a musician. But we had to move to Houston for Katrina, and they nailed the name!

I have been fortunate enough to raise 5 young men. Mostly healthy, two had some issues when they were infants. As a parent it is your responsibility to be your child’s advocate. If it don’t sound right/feel right, it probably ain’t right. Stand your ground.

Quick example, my grandson took a tumble and hit his head, son takes him to the ER, they check him out and say it’s all good. My son calls me from the ER and I ask if they did a CT of his head. He says, “they said they don’t like to do that on infants unless there is indications of damage and he passed all the tests.” I told my son son to demand a CT and either get one done or go to jail trying. They did and he had a scull fracture and was immediately transferred to the children’s hospital. Turned out ok, but that’s the kind of stuff that happens.

Your daughter is beautiful and I am so happy she is improving. God bless her and your family.

Bless that sweet little child and your family.

Instinct is something we all could stand to listen to a bit closer at times, that much is true.

Prayers for her continued recovery and a happy/healthy long life.

I don't know if any of you have ever had to see your child hooked up to all the machines, but it is absolutely the worst site you can imagine.

I have, and it’s heart wrenching. My daughter is medically fragile. If you live in Louisiana, I strongly recommend moving to somewhere with a major children’s hospital.
