As someone that works with people with disabilities this would be a bad idea to have her in, she would be a huge liability for both insurance and for legal reasons. I’m not sure what her IQ was but I’m guessing it was below 80. I’m sorry but someone with a low IQ just doesn’t belong some places.

Women, particularly sorority girls, are evil to each other

Proper response by sister: “You know. Far from everybody who tries actually gets into a sorority. You did nothing wrong, and no one disliked you. Remember about one door closing and another opening. You’re awesome and you’ll find other friends. You’ve got the best sister you’ll ever need right here anyway.”

My frat accepted a sympathy bid from a wheelchair bound, cerebral palsy kid because he was a legacy and had an agreeable personality. The 90+ year old house had no accommodations for his disability. Rather than sue us, he agreed to quit after 2 weeks of pledgeship. Good family.

She's not the only girl that didn't get into a sorority.

If you say this at an actual sorority, be ready to fight some bitches.

Am I the only one surprised a person with Down Syndrome is in college?
George Mason University has a program for people with intellectual disabilities.
From the link:

I’d let her in before a black chick

Keeping it real just saying. It’s okay for people to say shite about this girl with a disorder but not to state the obvious about black girls?

While she may have been denied and downs syndrome was blamed, if you close read the article, she was a Hoosier. Pretty sure being from Indiana gets you a blackball. Too bad, I mean how often can you pledge the smartest woman in Indiana?

Further, my Utopian society does not have me in politics in it. I couldn't stand the idiocy.

However you feel about it, this
is sad, and kind of breaks my heart. I hope she finds something better to belong to than a bitch-arse sorority. Shouldn't be hard.

As someone with a physical disability, the mistake I see a lot of parents, with disabled children do, is treat them different.. Or "special". Everyone is faced with reality and if they raised their kid to think they are special because of their disability, they will expect to be treated special or that because they are special they should get an automatic pass.
And then when something doesn't go their way, it becomes a heartbreaking story.
The reality is, they will face discrimination. Even if it can't be proven, it will be obvious. You have to pick your battles and have tough skin. And the most important thing is to be realistic.
If you are going to encourage her to rush, they should explain to her that there is a chance she will not get in and if she doesn't she will not be the only one. And that if she does that will be great, but it's not a big deal if she doesn't.

Awesome
With the adaptive technology we have now, ot pt speech therapy and what we know about DS, autism, ID, many more young adults with these conditions are going to college and are transitioning to independent living.
