I knew a girl in a wheelchair who was in a sorority at LSU. Not sure which one..
With that said, a friend of mine who was in a Fraternity at Nicholls got in a fight with a pledge with Down Syndrome. It's kind of fricked up, but the way he told it was funny as hell.
Evidently at first, everyone was interacting with him and was all supportive of him pledging but he said it was like the more comfortable he got the crazier he got. My friend had been drinking and decided he was going to go calm the kid down and he ended up getting in fight with him. This was before camera phones, but they made both of them leave. They told my friend to just leave and they would say they made them both leave and the person with Down Syndrome flagged from joining a Fraternity.
Seriously, on hand I know it sucks and that it is someone's child and that they pretty much used that as an excuse to not allow him to join a Fraternity.. But on the other hand.. It was a hilarious story.
