I can't imagine getting ingrown toenails. What causes it?

shite was painful when the numb wore off.

I had both big toes done in 2019. Young podiatrist. Ended up having to go back. Still didn't do a good job. My dermatologist saw it, said she could fix it, and she did. Hurts like hell when the numbing shots wear off unless you get ahead of the pain. Took a year to get it out of sandals.

Make sure the doc knows what they are going before they come at your toes with a knife.

I'm usually good w/needles but I had planter's about a decade ago and having a needle into the ball of your foot is the worst pain I've ever felt.

Mine lives on Pikes Lane off Moss Side. So I’m guessing it’s a lot.

They also do real surgery in OR and ortho usually won’t touch feet, they make the podiatrist do it. So imagine they make good money but they also have to deal with smelly disgusting feet all day and diabetics with rotten toes. I’m sure they earn their money

As a PCP, I would rather perform a pelvic exam on unwashed homeless women with trichimonias all day than deal diabetic foot wounds all day. I still deal with diabetic foot wounds but it is my least favorite part of the job. Just last month I had a woman come in for a wound check after having part of her foot amputated and the stitches had broken necrotic tissue and maggots fell out of the wound. The maggots were probably helping the wound heal (look up medical maggot therapy) but it was still disgusting. Whatever podiatrists make it ain't enough.

Just cut a "V" in middle and let it pull itself out

Wasn't that a treatment idea at one point? Introduce maggots to eat dead tissue.

Same. Worst part was the shots to the END of the toe. Probably lasted for about 25-30 years. Now I have the same problem again if I don’t keep an eye on it.

Man I remember having my big toe done in high school. Didn't think much of it due to all the local anesthesia they put in my toe. Went home and took a nap. Woke up a couple hours later and felt my heart beating in my big toe and it felt like my toe was the size of my head and only getting bigger with each heartbeat.

That was some serious pain once the anesthetic wore off.

A friends father in HS was one. He had a few super cars. I assume they do pretty well.

explain how they make ur toenail stop growing to a layman

They cut the nail back as far as they can and put a chemical on it that kills the nail bed. Mine was done over 20 years ago and it hasn't grown back yet. Just skin there now where there used to be nail.

Start clipping your toenails every so often so you won’t have to have surgery.
