Underwent ingrown toenail “surgery” today. How much do podiatrists make?

The speed at which this cute Asian lady podiatrist moved was breathtaking. I was sitting up watching the whole procedure, which will result in a permanent 25% loss of my big toenail. And the shite works. Had the other one done 5 years ago, zero problems thereafter.

So my question… I know they’re not “real” doctors (per Elaine Benes), but they crank through dozens of feet per day, and as far as I can tell they provide people with actual relief. How much can a person make dealing with nasty feet all day every day?

Dunno their base pay.

They get lots of tips, I’d imagine.

I'm guessing that you or your insurance paid them for the procedure, so......you tell us.

They also do real surgery in OR and ortho usually won’t touch feet, they make the podiatrist do it. So imagine they make good money but they also have to deal with smelly disgusting feet all day and diabetics with rotten toes. I’m sure they earn their money

It depends largely on how many patients they see. I have a buddy who’s a podiatrist and another who is the hospital CEO.

The ceo claims the podiatrist is balling at just under 7 figures but his schedule stays completely full.

But he said other podiatrists only make the low 6 figures.

ETA I have no idea if the CEO is actually privy to this information or was just jerking my chain.

They cut it back and kill part of the root.

Why did you need to go to a podiatrist for that? Your general practitioner should have been able to cut it out at a normal doctor visit.

Edit: Nevermind. I see they cut out part of your nail bed.

A lot. I have a buddy that’s an endodontist and you want to talk about making bank. The problem is they deal with people at their worst. I feel sorry for his staff.

Good friend of mine has a podiatrist father. Did well enough the last ~decade of his career was essentially volunteering at the VA. I've seen some of the pics on his laptop, and I absolutely couldn't do it.

Had mine done when i was 13 by my family primary and lost 25% of the top left corner of my left big toe. He cut it straight down the middle and only numbed it while he was doing it. shite was painful when the numb wore off.

Other side was ingrown too.. some fat kid in gym was wrestling and stumbled back stomping on the ingrown toe. It gushed blood but gave that bitch enough room to grow out and no problems since.

I had big problems with ingrown nails as a teen. I had two rounds of surgery, the first being conventional with scalpels, and when the problem came back a year later, they used lasers to kill part of the nail root on both sides., so it would only grow upward. That was decades ago and haven’t had a problem with them since.

They put a liquid on the part they don’t want to nail to regrow.

It is painless and it works.

The only part that hurts is the numbing shot.

But man that’s a big needle.
