Was fortunate to live between a Lil General and a Time Saver. Lil General had Whacky Packages that I loved and my brother bought that pea shooter was a straw and a bag of dried peas. We went to Time Saver more it was a closer walk and we could turn in Icee points for a free one

The one in between the ice house and Taste donuts was great. The other side of taste donuts was the buss station which ran thru my hood and then across the Industrial canal and down downman rd.

I was coming in to complain that you hadn’t included the General Meyer location, and then there it was. That location was rocking through the late 90s.

Dear Friend,
When I gather the courage to cross the Industrial Canal, I will try to make my way to Violet to inspect that landmark. I will be writing to our state Congress members to protect these fading symbols of efficiency and fun.
Yours,
TulaneLSU

Friend,
I am sorry that I only have 1 upvote to give. I love and will cherish the story about the LSU and Tulane cups.

quote:I have to give you credit for this. It's truly one of your best and most amusing passages.
“Fugit inreparabile tempus,” wrote the Roman poet Virgil in Georgics. Most of you, my dear readers, strongly prefer Homer over Virgil, I know, and rightly so, but my recent journeys, and possible forthcoming displacement, to the farmlands of southern Alabama have rekindled my appreciation for Virgil’s poem on farming and husbandry. What is true of that oft-used phrase is just how irretrievable time is. We all know what time is, even if we, like Saint Augustine, are unable to define it. And we all know, when we sit to think, how time that is not valued and for which we are not grateful, simply slips away. Time flies and not any of us, except our God who is above and outside time, yet chooses in freedom and love to act within time, can redeem it.
New Orleans is one of the few American cities where time is respected and cherished. New Orleans embraces time’s fleeting nature perhaps because we verily understand how fleeting even the ground on which we stand is. Our city honors the linear nature of time, recognizing that we are not in some endless or repeated cycle, but instead, moving toward an end. Every point along the way to that end is sacred and part of providence. Every moment is holy and should be saved. Qui salvat tempore is the true Orleanian.
Time Saver came to life to serve New Orleans’ desire to preserve this precious resource

Just bumping because there is now a TIME SAVER branded store that just opened up on the corner of Belle Chasse Hwy and Lapalco Blvd/Behrman Hwy on the Westbank, fyi.

OMG i love this. Very well written. i was doing a google search on Time Saver and this came up
i detect perhaps TulaneLSU is a relative of John Kennedy Toole. The similarity of the prose is striking.
Anyhow the TS on Harrison by St. Dominic's was my go-to. The usually had an up-to-date video game there. back when these stores had video games rather than those garish video poker machines that are everywhere.
runner up is your favorite on magazine. many an off campus lunch from de la salle was bought there, including the "double dog surprise"---a frankfurter with a secret extra frank in there concealed by chilli

TulaneLSU is in jail for tricking young women into changing his adult diapers. But if he ever hears this comparison, he will blow his load
Or you could just be his alter because who tf does a goodle search for TimeSaver on a random Wednesday afternoon. In which case, welcome back

The mind blowing attention to detail, character building, and random nonsense TulaneLSU always displayed was amazing. In the truest sense of the word: amazing.
