PE? Making no money? Go to the Permian Basin and you’ll make 100k easily. Hell you’ll make 40k just on perdiem. You are seriously full of shite and a puss. All you want is a kush 100k job in a good city handed to you. Do don’t belong in the oil field. What a clown. We run a guy like you off every week.

Op is a confirmed retard so this thread isn't surprising

Transition to more environmental and civil or hydrology. There seems to be a big future in water engineering.

I love it when a thread doesn’t go the way the OP thought it would.

You must have a lot of debt.

So you think everything was champagne and caviar before 2014? Wow.

If you’re a single guy with relatively little debt then 80K should be more than enough to keep you flush with cash.

I’m making around 80k working 3 weeks on (11-14 hour shifts) and 1 week off in West Texas. All those computer science people with 2-3 years of experience are making 100k + working 40 hours. All of them...
So you didn't put much thought into this before graduating with this degree?
Also, stop comparing what you do with what others do. You'll always be looking over the fence.

I've worked in IT for 20 years and this isn't true

My neighbors son graduated 5 years ago and is a senior drilling engineer. He makes close to 200k and has a very flexible work schedule. I wouldn’t say that sucks for someone in their late 20s. Only negative I would say is he had to move to Houston.

Gray, our consulting engineering company hires a lot of engineers. Although we don’t do petroleum engineering we’ve found that petEs have the background in the classic disciplines that allows them to succeed on our teams if they have the other qualities like self-discipline, a gregarious personality, etc.
My suggestion would be to hustle the consulting companies in the oil and gas industry. Get hired doing something, anything, and prove yourself. After that you would be able to work your way into a staff engineering position, project engineering, and eventually project management.
It would help you get hired if you got your Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. What city are you in? Houston would make this easy.
