He will be. He’s been really practicing punting, so he hopes to do all of the kicking duties. Gotta compete with much older kids though.

InB4 OP says it’s better than the kid running the streets and ending up with the bad crowd.

I love this excuse from travel ball families. It’s like the only two options for a kid are to train like an elite, professional athlete or OD on drugs.

THe thread title is pretty clear. I usually don’t click on the threads I’m not interested in...unless they get to 10 pages or something, then sift through to see why.

Frick That - I'll travel for baseball within 1-2 hours and maybe a couple tournaments a year further.

We usually play close enough to drive home and sleep at the house.

f I read that correctly, it appears your kid is in 6th grade?!! This is overkill for a kid that young. Put him on a local club team that mainly plays in the region you live in. If he’s good enough, you will know when he plays high school ball.

I love when all you washed up average athletes give “expert” advice on how people’s kids should spend their athletic youth. How’d thatvplan work for you? You get a D1 scholarship? Pro player?

Rec league champ?

So if one kid does travel ball, the entire family is basically held captive?

Way more kids play baseball, so good competition is easy to find. Soccer is tough in these parts.

frick that. I have a 5 year old girl and I cringe thinking about upcoming possibilities of competitive dance and cheer.

Kid must be a decent athlete. Only a select few make the ODP cut.

In MS it’s not that great. There’s not even a full squad of 06 boys. I was just trying to get him front of some regional coaches, but life gets tougher playing in the 05 bracket. An 05 boy in our club is the only kid to make the regional team from MS, and he’s good no doubt. We’ll see where that goes.

Been there, done that. For many years. Thought it was extreme at the time, now I miss those days more than you can imagine. Grin and bear it, it’ll be over before you know it.

Yep - we have families of 3-4 kids and the whole gang follows the baseball team all over.

Hopefully for you, he is just going to be gay and not start to identify as a girl....although, with his soccer abilities.....
