There is no room for anything else for the family when it is all deferred to little Aiden’s travel ball schedule

This is optional right? Hard to complain when you knew what you were getting into.

I’m complaining that it’s almost over. It seems like a full schedule, but we’re accustomed to this every spring. It’s mostly me, but my wife comes if it’s too far to make it back home that night.

That's nothing. A friends kid played high level hockey. He played for the Little Caps team with several players that are now in the NHL. We live in Virginia and they were all over New England and Canada playing tournaments with big money spent on training, personal coaches and travel. Kid was really good and had the size but he lost the passion for the game. I can't even imagine how much his parents spent over the years.

That schedule is retarded and even if your kid was some prodigy, you are retarded as well for going through through with it.

If he plays hs soccer he’ll continue to play club. Club is a much higher level generally speaking.

I love my kid and I love baseball.

I love neither that much.

My daughter played travel softball and overall I regret it. So much of the family's time was devoted to one family member's pursuit.

I have a friend whose daughter played travel ball. She was very successful and was a star on her team. Played on the same team "Louisiana Patriots" I think was the name of the team as a few of LSU's elite players. She ended up earning a scholarship and getting a education so that worked out. I never saw any signs of it but I often wondered if her brother had any resentment. He ended up joining the military straight out of school. other than help getting a car loan I don't know of much that his parents did for him. Everything they did was for her and pursuing her goals.

He could learn differential equations in that time.

Or a trade.

I hope you bond, establish a rapport you always have together. That seems a lot for 12 yrs old but I guess this is good for soccer in USA.

Ten years from now your guy scores the winning goal when usa plays Trinidad and Tobago for the nth spot in our region to get into play in game in world cup.

We don't care about your kids. You constantly post about Jaxtyn's soccer career. You should be embarrassed. Your kid will never play professionally.

Yep, that will stay with the boy, as far as the girl getting a scholarship being a success story, nope, if she has a pulse she can get scholarship money from some place filling title ix quotas

Absolutely, but winning State, multiple times, in high school is the only goal for soccer. He’ll play other sports and focus on soccer when the coaches set it up. That’s my thought. The clubs around here are a bit fricky too. They’ve been playing ‘to win’ so long that each age group is on an island, there are no feeder teams. There’s just an A team and that’s it. That doesn’t bode well for the long term. He could switch clubs though.

I never saw any signs of resentment or anything and maybe it is because he and his sister are close so that never creeped into it. But I often wondered just seeing it as a outsider.

All the best ‘local’ kids play on one of the two local clubs. Local meaning within an hour of Gulfport.

Natural attrition in soccer at that age. Some kids will play fall hs sports then hs soccer then join club team for spring. Mostly football kids...
