Chevrolet for better mileage and interior
Tundra for better durability and a better looking truck.
My God, GM has started cranking out some horrible looking trucks.

Just get a cat guard if you buy the Tundra.

If you don’t opt for a V8 in a domestic truck you’re stuck with one of these new, yet to be proven reliable, turbo engines.
The ford ecoboost has been in use for over a decade. How many years does it take to be proven reliable? 15 years? 20 years?

12 so far, and the blue oval still can’t resolve the the carbon build up issue. That aside, forced induction causes excessive strain on engine internals. The most reliable engines of all time have all been naturally aspirated from a variety of makers: Ford, GM, Honda, Toyota, even VW.
All the little tricks like turbo charging, auto start stop, and cylinder deactivation are the lazy company’s way of satisfying the EPA hippy brown shirts.

I think gmc and Toyota are both updating interiors for next year.

Toyota Tundra or GMC SIERRA 1500
Toyota, all day.

Toyota’s are garbage. They all use 10 year old technology and engines have no power.
Buy the Sierra and you won’t regret. Plus, it’s a much classier ride than any Toyota.

Motor trend rated 2021 Tundra as the worst full size truck. Google it if you don't believe.
Also I hope you like black rims
Car and driver also rated it last
If you are only going to keep it a short while, these ratings are important. If you plan to keep it longer, these ratings are of little value.

Do you want a reliable truck, or do you want to help your dealership build nicer garage space.

I traded my 2012 Tundra for a 2021 Sierra Denali. Really love the GMC. The Tundra was a good truck. I could easily bought another but I wanted something different

2022 tundra has body style change

Bruh….it depends on what you value.
GMC is a nice looking truck for sure but I’ve never been impressed w/ their long-term reliability & their interiors are consistently the absolute worst in the truck industry . The last one I sat in, it looked like the dash was giving birth to the infotainment screen.

Tundra if you are hauling or towing less than 200 pounds.
GMC if you actually have to have a truck.
Tundra is not something you want to use as a daily tow vehicle or hauler.

Correct, but only for the 5.3 ECOTEC motor in the GM trucks. The 6.2 still has that shite,
Well GM doesn’t like to sell the 6.2 anyway. Wants to put the 5.3 in everything.

I like my 2016 Tundra. It’s solid, reliable, plenty enough power. I get 14.9 mpg with the 5.7. It’s a “trucky” ride compared to the other brands. As I get older my back is wanting something more comfortable.
The GMC will be better in every category but reliability and my family has had good luck with GM truck reliability. Although I’d opt for the Chevy personally.
Wait until the 2022 Tundra comes out.

You probably won’t be able to find a new Tundra.
Only one dealership has any 2021’s ordered. Going to be 2 months before they get any.
2022’s are going to have a v-6 twin turbo instead of the 5.7.

GMC is three years ahead of Toyota in innovation. Buy the GMC.

I will add some objective info to this thread.
Hardcore Chevy Guy here...except for:
1996 V6 Ex Cab Tacoma, 202,000 miles, no issues whatsoever; finally changed timing belt at 200,000; looked brand new.
Replaced with:
2010 Tundra Crewmax Platinum, 196,000 miles no issues whatsoever.
Almost everyone I know with a Silverado or Sierra 2007 or newer (and I live in a truck rich mountain environment), has been in the shop for either AFM lifter issues (change your oil!) or 8 speed replacement...some BOTH. My older sister's (no pics) 2015 Yukon Denali has about 35,000 total miles...now on its 3rd 8 speed transmission; it was a $70,000 rig, she is (and drives like) a grandma...
There is a reason why Toyota trucks have the best resale value. However, Silverado and Sierra are undeniably nice trucks.
