Body man suggested to me to stay away from F150s. Those aluminum bodies are trash and will fold like a can.
How true is that?

I have 2018 Denali
I love most everything about it except the 8 speed transmission
2nd gear is trash
the 6 speed was smooth as glass
then they kept trying to increase fuel economy...with the 8
heard the 10 speed is okay
the latest GMC body style and interior I do not like
the Tundra update will be interesting..
Toyota is a hard to beat on quality
that's just the truth
but I've loved all 3 of my GMC trucks
conflicted
right now, there is not once new GMC denali to be had here in Cary NC...last I checked...1 diesel was left

Meaning it hasn’t been updated since 2007.

I'd go with GMC. The tundra currently seems a bit.... basic. Plus I think the Sierras look better.

I'd like to always buy American, but when it comes down between a GM product and a Toyota, I'd have to go with Toyota simply for reliability and endurance.
Not sure about 2021, but 2020 and older Tundras had more American made parts than any other full size truck. Around 73% of the parts (engine included) were made in America.
Non full size its the Ford Ranger that wins.
FWIW my 2006 Tundra has 225k miles on it without any major issues thus far.

Loving my ram 1500. I have no loyalty to any of the brands. Easily the best interior. At this point, all the trucks look nice on the outside and have enough power to do what you need it to. Go see it for yourself, I’d bet you love it

Motor trend rated 2021 Tundra as the worst full size truck. Car and driver also rated it last
I'm guessing the Tundra was rated last due to climate change and gas mileage

Whichever one is available at the dealership. It’s 2021. Good luck.

I would not buy any new vehicle with active fuel management (cylinder shutdown) due to all the lifter issues. All the mpg savings you get with the gm are offset by the oil consumption and post warranty engine troubles.
Buy the Toyota.
Buy the Toyota.

This
It’s a horrible time to be in the market for a new vehicle

They canceled that feature after May 2021 because of the microchip shortage.

And the epa will mandate install of AFM chips by the dealers when they become available.

I love my GMC.
Very comfortable and gets decent mileage.
I agree, buy a Tundra, better stick up on converters.

Tundra easily.
While I do love the current tundras, the body and interior update are coming this fall, so you may want to wait

Correct, but only for the 5.3 ECOTEC motor in the GM trucks. The 6.2 still has that shite, as do the 5.0 Fords, 5.7 Rams, and 6.4 Rams. If you don’t opt for a V8 in a domestic truck you’re stuck with one of these new, yet to be proven reliable, turbo engines.
Avoid avoid avoid. If you want something you’ll keep for a long time (10 years/100k minimum), get the Tundra and live with the crappy gas mileage.
You want the truth about your best chances at buying a reliable long lasting vehicle? Here’s the list:
- no CVT
- no forced induction
- no first model years
- minimal bells and whistles (digital gauges and touchscreen that controls everything? Nope!)
- buy Toyota and stick to an “ol’ reliable” model (Tundra, 4Runner, Rav4, Corolla non CVT, Camry, Avalon RIP, highlander, sequoia etc.)
- go to CarComplaints.com to make sure they haven’t snuck in any new changes. For example, the long reliable gold standard Tacoma recently got a new engine and transmission that sucks. Scratch it off the list.
ETA: before anyone jumps in with, “my wife’s boyfriend’s BMW has 60k and is dead reliable! Hell my 2017 Silverado has 30k without a hiccup, it’ll get to 100k easily before it wears out!” With how expensive cars are now, we’re talking about 100k being the minimum, and ideally you’d keep your vehicle for 15-20 years without major headache. Gtfo if you’re bragging about hitting 90k before you had to have the whole CVT replaced.

It’s the Space Jam half-ton hauler. Every wacky shape exaggerated, each insane detail fighting every eccentric flourish, and all behind a giant grille upon which a whole herd of cattle could be simultaneously barbecued. Someone at Toyota designed the 2022 Tundra large pickup, but it looks like it came out of Warner Bros. Animation. Pure Looney Tunes.
