no transmission issues

Correct. The GMC 2018-2020 have transmission issues. Delayed acceleration and massive vibration in the steering column. I’ve had mine fixed twice. At 60,000 warranty I’m trading it in.

Google lifter failures. My mechanic cousin makes a killing fixing these on the side for extra cash.

I like my 2017 GMC Sierra. Had it for three years now and has been pretty reliable thus far.

Anyone with the 5.3l engine ever use an AFM disabler module? Been thinking of getting one so it doesn't become a problem for me in the future.

It ain’t just the 2018. My 2017’tranny crapped out at 100,000
Miles. Got the $5K bill to prove it.

Neighbor got a GMC Denali with the half ton diesel. He liked it but didn't keep it long and got a Chevy HD 2500 with a duramax.

I'm in the market for a new truck and I've been waiting on the new Tundra but my local dealer said that fall date won't be met. He is thinking late winter for the 22 models.

As a Sierra owner, I say Tundra.

Sierra will look better and have the superior interior/creature comforts. I place a higher value on dependability and longevity. As such, Tundra is the choice. I got a steal on my truck, but think about replacing it with a Tundra at least weekly.

Long lasting truck with primitive features, go with the Tundra.

If you just want a truck, and dont care about all the cameras, parking sensors, heated/ac seats, etc... get tundra. Either is fine, all about preference

The problem is the Tundra is at the same price point if not higher than the GMC.

If your ownership cycle is 5-8 years, the GMC 5.3L V8 will get across that finish line with no trouble at all.

Also the GM AC system pumps a higher volume of cool air than The Tundra and it does so quicker.

GMC offers superior value in nearly all areas

Body man suggested to me to stay away from F150s. Those aluminum bodies are trash and will fold like a can.

How true is that?

I have had two aluminum F150's. It is just like any other truck. If you hit something it will dent it. The F-150 is one of the highest rated in safety for the 13th Generation. I don't think they did the tests on the new body style yet, but I wouldn't expect anything less. Also people shite all over the 3.5 Ecoboost, but the HP and torque can't be matched by any other production truck unless you buy a Raptor or TRX. The 5.0 Coyote is a solid motor as well. Over the years I have had six GM trucks, one ram, Tundra for a work truck, and two 13th GEN F-150's and as long as Ford keeps making quality pick up trucks I will never own anything else.

That being said in regards to the OP if I had to choose between a Tundra and Sierra today, Sierra all day long.

The tundra has an update coming. The interior is currently super dated.
Aren't they getting rid of the V8 moving forward? I'd almost accept the dated interior instead of the V6...

Yes a 3.5 twin-turbo V6 will be the new engine for the 2022 tundras. Also toyota is revealing the truck and specs on September 19th.

I would not buy any new vehicle with active fuel management (cylinder shutdown) due to all the lifter issues. All the mpg savings you get with the gm are offset by the oil consumption and post warranty engine troubles.

Had a buddy buy a brand new Silverado. 2 weeks later they had to tow it back to the dealership.

Went to Dallas this weekend, girl we went with has a brand new Yukon Denali 9,000 miles on it. Started making a strange clicking sound, got it towed to a dealership and it’s the lifters. Tow driver said he’s been towing more new cars now than used.

I've got a 2021 Sierra AT4 1500 and love it. Not my daily driver though, it's mainly the boat puller/road trip car.

I love my 21 Tacoma TRD. I don’t need a massive truck and this along with my last Tacoma seems to do better around the roads of the hunting land. My last one never had been stuck…we will see with this one.
