My mom grew up in South Georgia very poor and survived with no AC.

I literally don't think it's possible in the north

My dad also grew up without AC. Just had a central fan.

Yeah, this OP is confusing. I take it as meaning one of two things:

1. No central air or central heat, but things like fans, fireplaces, furnaces, are available. In this scenario, give me the North.

2. No method of cooling or heating whatsoever, in which case I'd take the south and it's not even a debate.

Well in the south without AC, you'd be miserable as hell but probably not die.

North without any head and you might literally freeze to death.

You could die without heat in the north. AC is a relatively new phenomenon. Fire is pretty old

You can wear more clothes when you're cold. You can only take off so many clothes when you're hot.

I have a buddy that I visited in Seattle many years back. My mind was blown when I found out the thermostat only worked for heat. Stupidest concept ever.

Heat outside doesn't bother me one bit, but being hot inside is something I hate

Actually, you can LIVE in the south without AC, but you could DIE in the north without heat.

When its -35 degrees with the windchill, you would need a lot of blankets

Having lived in both New Hampshire and New Orleans. The correct answer is the North Without heat.

In the South simple shade can decrease the heat substantially. You will freeze to death without a simple fire.

Exactly. I was stationed in Upstate NY for 2 1/2 years back in the early 90’s. I never want to be that cold or see that much snow ever again in my life. I’m pretty sure it got to -50 with the wind chill a few times. You can’t get warm in that crap. Even with a heater.

I had to look it up. Jan 16, 1994 it got to -43 degrees in Watertown, NY. That was without wind chill.

If I decide to risk the cold without heat up North, I'm going consult a Tibetan monk on raising my core temp.

you can always put on more layers and do things to warm up, there is absolutely nothing you can do but suffer when its 99 degrees in the shade with 100% humidity to the point its hard to even breathe sometimes.

North without heat at least you can light a fire. South without AC a fan just isn't gonna cut it. South would be way worse imo

North without heat, easily.

I've spent a few weeks in the south without AC. It sucked, but it was doable.
